GPE #3 : Pam Demic Gets A Prick (or several...)

Welcome to the third garden of the

10th Anniversary  I N F O M A N I A C  Garden Photos Event

Maddie, the Mistress Borghese - and her alter ego, Pam Demic - have stepped up with a wonderful floral display for this, the third of 2020's Garden Photo Event installments.  I'll just hand you over to her now...

🌹

First off, for the tour and in a time of COVID-19 I didn't know if I should come veiled and gloved.  I don't go anywhere these days without my veil.

🌹

Since I have but a little pied-à-terre, with no outside garden, I sent some beauties from my aunt's garden, with her glorious roses. I'm not sure the variety, but I do know when helping her prune, I have gotten pricked numerous times, and I'm not one to complain over a small prick, but these are wickedly prickly.... but, oh so bushy, fragrant and full. Here in October, they are still going strong with tons of bloom.

🌹

I have also enclosed some tasteful terrifying triffidery. These are close ups of some lovely anemones I recently received. I was going to send you a close up picture of my personal triffid... even manscaped, but my social director said that is not what you meant by a close up shot of a triffid standing at attention.

🌹

Thank you, Maddie - and to your Aunt - for those beautiful roses!  I bet they smell divine.  Your wickedly gorgeous anemone isn't bad either!

For those who are interested, Maddie's Audrey II-esque anemone can be seen here about to attack a nuthatch on her windowsill.

Oh, and here's Mistress Maddie's gardener:

It's a wonder that she gets anything done!

🌹

Next on the agenda are the exotic specimens of Dinahmow, so be sure to pop back in a couple of days or so!

  2. Good heavens - so many gorgeous roses in October?! It must be a very mild climate in your Aunt's neighbourhood... Love the photos! Jx

PS Could I borrow the gardener for a little while? I have something that needs a dibber.

    1. I am actually not far from the Mistress. We are currently warming back up again in the high 70's and sun for a week. Next thing you know he'll be running around the garden nude again.

But I hope not in front of his aunt.

    2. We're very chilly here in London, which is to be expected in November. Because we have the Gulf Stream keeping us at a normally mild and wet climate, it is easy to forget that London Is actually on the same parallel as Calgary in Canada, Kazakhstan and Inner Mongolia, whereas Philly is at the same latitude as Ankara in Turkey, Palma in Majorca and Beijing. 3. So much to covet! Starting with that blooming great hat! And if I had that hat I'd take it off to your aunt and her roses.

  4. Oh how glorious!!!!!! I can almost smell them!!! Our roses, dahlia and zinnias here seem to just keep going this season. We have tons of blooms still on ours, but Maddie's aunt must really give those some TLC. And the hat is just fabulous!!!!

And with that gardener, the only thing getting done I think is the Mistress.

  6. So nice to see a lady wear a huge wide brim still. I was just thinking the other day "Does anyone, still wear a hat?" To this and the flowers show, Ill drink to that!

Those roses are spectacular. I wouldn't picture the Mistress's rose bud any other way.

    1. Thank heavens you've arrived and responded to the masses about your beautiful rose(bud)s. I was beginning to fear having to do it myself - I've started drinking in preparation (on my second gin already...)

  11. Your aunt has exquisite taste, what lovely pink heads. The roses I bought and planted last week I now want to pull up and replace them all with pink double blooms, but I'll resist.
