The Year with a Convenient Birthday at the End

I'm sure it won't come as any surprise when I tell you that I've been somewhat slack with regards to blogging this year - both posting here, and reading all of yours.  And the Host hasn't been much better, either.
 Hey!
 Well, isn't it true?
Yes.  I suppose so.  Except for June and November.
Anyway, June and November aside, we've pretty much given up on our annual "Year of..." extravaganza, and instead focused on one very important award that always features towards the end of said extravaganza.  And that award is, the Most Inconvenient Birthday Award.
Only this year, it's the Most Convenient as it's saved us from exploding with frustration and exhaustion in an attempt to pack two or three days worth of work into just a couple of hours!
And so, we'd like to present this golden, hazelnutty, chocolatey award to, none other than Savvy!

Art Trek: Creepy Cosplay

 Disaster has struck!

Okay, so that may be a bit overdramatic...

I'd just finished sewing a couple of bits of gold ribbon around the cuffs of a cheapo red long-sleeved T-shirt, went to put it on so I could pin on the narrower gold ribbon for the shoulder yoke and...

... couldn't get my hands through the sleeve cuffs anymore!!!

"What is that silly witch going on about?", I hear you ask.  Why, it's (nearing*) the end of a month so that means it's time for some Star Trek fan art.  My Star Trek fan art!  As my piece, "These are a few of my favourite things!" got the most votes in the previous challenge, I got to set the theme for this one - and here it is:

The theme for this challenge is Creepy Cosplay!

Ghastlier than a thousand ghouls

Honestly, I'm surprised people didn't run screaming for the hills when I went out earlier. My hair was a greasy mess, as was my skin; what I thought was an acceptable amount of stubble in fact looked like I was auditioning for Robinson Crusoe; and the clothes I was wearing looked as if they'd been pulled out of the washing bin. I must have been ghastlier than a thousand ghouls!

Long time readers may have guessed the reason for this lapse in standards (if they're not out-and-out rude, that is): Yes. It was all down to MirrorMe again.
The dratted reflection had once again got up before me and pampered & preened until he looked fantastic, then beat me to the mirror so I thought it was me I was looking at, not 'Me. You can imagine my horror when I got home and saw my reflection in the hall mirror. I'm surprised it didn't shatter at the piercing scream I gave! The fact that I saw my actual reflection and not MirrorMe means he must still be out somewhere. Well, I've got a surprise for him when he comes home: I'm going to trap him between two mirrors so he can never go out again!

Mwah hah hah hah haa!

Thwarting 'Me

I thwarted MirrorMe's nefarious schemes yesterday morning. I got up 15 minutes earlier and didn't look in a mirror once while I was getting ready.

When I got to work, I had one of the Host's devoted 'Hags check me over to make sure I was beautiful before going in to the lavs to look in the mirrors there.

Ha! MirrorMe was caught totally unawares and looked godawful. Bags under his eyes, hair in disarray, uncovered blemishes and a horribly skew-wif tie. When 'Me slinked off in shame, I saw my real reflection, somewhat translucent, but looking good. Hair was the nicest surprise. Even though I did it all by touch and mnemonic movement, it was in one of the best 'dos it'd ever been in at this length. I could've done with a shave, though, but there was no way I was doing that without a mirror.

All in all, a successful thwarting. I haven't seen 'Me in 24 hours! I might forego the mirror more often.

MirrorMe

Blast!

I went to work this morning with a massive spot on my forehead and totally un-awesome hair. Also*, my hips looked huge in my new trousers.

Why didn't I do something about about these personal disasters after seeing myself in the mirror before I left the house?

Because MirrorMe got to the concealer and hair gel first. And also**, my wardrobe. I thought it was me looking good-to-go, not Me.

Git!

I would go into the mirror to give Me a piece of our minds, but I always feel like I'm missing something important once I'm there.

Like a third dimension.

Also***, I keep banging into things because they're all the wrong way around. So now, I'll have to set my alarm five minutes earlier for tomorrow morning, to beat Me to the bathroom.

Bugger.

* For the grammatically correct out there, I know sentences shouldn't start with 'Also'. I'm just doing it to annoy you.
** I KNOW!
*** Still doing it for the annoyance factor.
