Art vs Artist

 By popular demand-
What? Since when was two people showing a polite, vague interest "popular demand"?
Since now.  Go and interfere somewhere else.  This is my post!
I think you'll find it is our post.  After all, whose name is on all those header images further down, hmm?
Oh, hush.  Why don't you go and see to that ever widening Cusp interface before someone - or someones - falls in!
Fine.  I'll leave you to your little doodles, then!

Right.  Now that Witchface has gone, here is the Art vs Artist thingy I mentioned in the last post. It's something I saw on BlueSky so I thought I'd have a go, too.
The majority that I saw are 3x3 square grids with a photo of the artist in the centre square surrounded by eight pieces of their work, so I followed the same pattern (it's all Star Trek stuff as I rarely produce any other kind):

Top left to right:
✦ Blue & Gold - blue cardboard cut-out Andorian thavan & zhei (vaguely equivalent to father & daughter) on the beach wearing gold swimming costumes.
✦ Bluer Decks - coloured marker pen scene of the Heeler family dancing.  Bandit as Rutherford, Bluey as Mariner, Bingo as Boimler, and Chilli as Tendi.
✦ Delilah sh'Mythe's "Complete how to cook polymer porpoises and other plastic cetaceans" recipe book with a plate of blue food (including a plastic wind-up whale toy) on the cover [a tongue-in-cheek homage to Star Trek VI's dining scene].
Middle left to right:
✦ Life-size Rutherford Action Figures (from the Cerritos gift shop) featuring Sam Rutherford in several states of undress (complete with appropriately placed warning stickers) with various accessories, innuendos, and double entendres.
✦ Me craply cosplaying as a recently deceased Trill Starfleet officer laying amongst cardboard gravestones, with a cardboard blue-gill parasite (from TNG: Conspiracy) coming out of my mouth and another crawling on my torso.
✦ "In Times of Crisis" - a marker pen poster featuring the evacuation of Romulus and the refugees' welcome in the Federation.
Bottom left to right:
✦ Treasure Map - An ancient Betazoid star map showing the whereabouts of the Holy Rings of Betazed.
✦ "The Andorian with the Rubber Ducky Room Tattoo" - While in the sonic showers with Buddy the Vulcan (Vulcan ensign #1) and that hot human male med tech/nurse (who I'm going to call Fin because he looks like my backup lifeguard at the pool with the same name), Charlie the Andorian (the adorable Andorian ensign) from ST: Lower Decks discovers he's been tattooed with the secret blueprints of the Rubber Ducky Room.
✦ Pikhmit (pixmit) - my version of the triangular Romulan tarot cards from season 1 of ST: Picard.

So, that's the Art vs Artist thing done.  Now for the new blog header!

The new header image comes from this out of focus photo from May 2019's Treasure Map art challenge (already linked to up there)

#1, This is my first go using Century Gothic - a typeface I stuck to with subsequent efforts as I like its clean, classic look.

#2, I didn't like the off-kilter spacing in the first one, so I created this more simple version.

#3, And then was just some messing around that stuck.
This one made it to the top of the blog in a desperate attempt to do something before having to rush off, and is the version Melanie kindly critiqued.
Although I liked the "commanding "A"+"V" combination" (thank you, Mago), like Melanie, I wasn't happy with the readability (or the CE & LC combinations).

#4, Another go this morning.

#5, 28pt A & V allows for better spacing when the rest of the letters are in 24 pt.
Or 22?  I can't remember.

#6, As I liked some of the linked letters from #4 (especially the E), I lengthened some verticals.

#7, And then linked the remaining C & E and L & C to see what it looked like.  A key!
And this is the one at the top of the blog now.

  1. I am pretty sure Mr Morris looked over your shoulder making approving noises, while Tschichold squinted.

I think I remember most of your projects, with the exception of your performance shown in the centre, and the one to the right in the middle "In Times of Crisis".
But who could ever forget Delilah's delectabilities ?
