Of Triffids and Tribbles

A sunless slipway

Don't mind me - I'm just dumping off some photos from the start of the month.  I wasn't going to post them but I'd already made the effort to resize them, so I didn't want all that hard work to be in vain

Oh, and here's something to listen to while you scroll down (don't worry, you'll have finished scrolling well before the song finishes).  I discovered "Call Tokyo" by White Lies on 30th September just after I'd posted my third quarter review.  And then played it at least 10 times.  In fact, I'm listening to it now (over and over and over) as I type this out...

The slipway later in the day (1st October)

Although the clouds look ominous, surprisingly it didn't rain

I actually quite like these cloud-splattered skies

The following photos are from a walk to Frogshall on the 3rd

The nicer of the Shrieking Pits (last seen back in February)

A gate to nowhere

Through Furyhill

Looking up in The Grove

I wasn't sure if these tufts in Osier Carr were grass or Tribbles?

A lone Triffid (taken from a safe distance)

That Triffid stalking across a field up there reminds me that I'd better do the final reminder for Terrifying Triffidery and the Garden Photos Event soon.  I hope you're all getting your gardens and cameras in order?

  1. Lovely as usual! I like the grove photos, even though I felt humid, gnaty, and sticky looking at them. It's the over growth. That locale would be sort of buggy here.

And my triffid is running amuck also. I hope to catch a photo....

    1. I was about to say that Furyhill and The Grove weren't buggy at all - and then I remembered my irritatingly itchy leg. Something must have crawled up my left trouser leg and bitten me to buggery on Sunday, as I have an array of blisters in various sizes (from half a petit pois to half a grape!) as evidence. Fortunately whatever it was stopped at mid-thigh!

I'm sure your triffid will be as impressive as always!

  2. Gosh. The photos themselves are impressive enough, but that White Lies video is quite... well, fabulous, really! The song's OK, too.

I'm going to need to knuckle down and sort the photos for the Dolores Delargo Towers entry in the Garden "Show'n'Tell" this weekend, as our next three weekends all have events booked in them. Oh! The social whorl... Jx

    1. I didn't pay any attention to the video at first - I just had the song playing while I did other things - but after about 20 listens, I finally watched it and, yes, quite fabulous!
I love the song, though - I'm alternating it with one that you featured recently: "Sister Ray" by Foxes.

I must do the same with my garden photos. I've got some busy weekends coming up so it's difficult to squeeze everything in (although, I'm off work next week, so that should help). Good luck with yours - I can't wait to see them!

    1. Oh, yes, watch your head!

Sorry, I forgot to put a warning up...

  4. Eek what's the green slime over the shrieking pit? It's scary by you.
Love the header. Did you delight a shepherd to do it?

    1. Rude! I only sneezed... Actually, the "slime" is only duckweed (which is strange as there are no ducks, only moorhens...) blown to one side of the pit.

    1. Three weeks, Mitzi. You only have three weeks left to sort your garden - and lanai - out!

  6. I could not continue scrolling as their was a handsome guy in his underwear in the video. Aside from that, neither the song nor video makes any sense to me. I do so enjoy your pictures. I like them all, but particularly the shades of blue in the fist.

You updated your header as discussed! I like it a lot! You did not like your name in the sand? Did it look too washed out there? Hahaha.

I too must get my pictures in order. I must say my Venus flytraps had a stellar year this year. The pitcher plant not so much. I think the reed plant that somehow got in there is starving out the competition.

    1. I sing along to "Tokyo" but don't pay attention to the words or their meaning - I just love the 80s anthem-like sound of it! I'm like that with a lot of music - I may know all the words, but they mean nothing compared to how the music makes me feel.

I did think about writing my name in the sand, but I'd have to do it in a very large size for it to show up in a wide-screen shot like this and I just couldn't be bothered to make all that effort ! ;D (Although, I did once write my name out in pebbles, but I can't find the photos of it now...)

Ooh! Carnivorous plants! I'm really looking forward to your Terrifying Triffidery now!
