Not quite as dramatic as the stripes seen here. |
As it's my day off work, I got up a bit later than usual and made my way down to the seafront around the time the sun was rising. Of course, it was far too cloudy to actually see the sun, but I did see something else...
"There's a firey star hidden out there somewhere." |

Glub! Yikes! There's something moving in this wave!
Oh, no. Wait. Sorry. There are no frightful sea creatures, it was just a bit of seaweed. These photos from our visit to the Sealife Centre at Hunstanton (with my sister Inexcuseable and nephew Count Podgkinson) on Saturday must have got mixed up with today's somehow?
oOo
Let's carry on with today's photos and the "something else" that I saw, shall we: a skein of geese. Yes, it must be migration time for these geese as four more skeins have flown over since I saw this one earlier on.

As some of the more observant among you have already noticed, I've changed the header image to this (as Melanie suggested here):
Love the new header! And,unsurprisingly, I did guess somehow that spotting Angel Fish in the sea off Norfolk in October might be a less-than-likely prospect...
ReplyDeleteThe swifts left weeks ago. Now it's time for the geese to piss off to Spain too? Lucky sods!
Jx
Well, quite. Besides, spotting anything in the sea around here would be difficult as it's almost always very murky what with clay & chalk particles, not to mention all the plankton and whatnot.
DeleteI LOVE your head!!!
ReplyDeleteI, errr, um, I meant header! Yes, your header. Might be my favorite yet! And love the font. I love seas aquariums. I have been to one in an age. The closet one to me is in Balitmore's Inner Harbor, about a 1 1/2hr drive south.
Make the most of my head while you can, Maddie - this one will be replaced at the end of the month!
DeleteThis sealife aquarium is about an hours drive west from here, but there's another about 45 mins east - I'm not quite sure why it was decided to go to the one furthest away?
Love the new header. Beautiful photo. And the migration pics are wonderful, as well. Love that big wave. I have mixed feelings about zoos and the like... I know the animals are safe and treated well, but... it's a big but, too. So I am always a little heartsick when going although I love seeing the animals. You? Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about this aquarium and zoos etc. The seals are only temporary residents here - they're all rescues which are nursed back to health then released back into the wild. But I'm not sure about the otters, and I did feel bad for the poor turtle as they have a really big range in the wild.
DeleteOn the plus side, this aquarium is mostly an educational place, and raises money for various sealife-related causes, so I don't mind visiting it.
I agree with everyone else, it's a great new header. The typeface is very sci-fi.
ReplyDeleteThe typeface is called "Next in Folded Line" - I thought the pointy squareness of the characters made a nice balance to the beach huts on the other side of the photo.
DeleteI love the header too, it reminds me of an album cover by The Cardigans can't remember which one. Have you had any starling murmurations where you are?
ReplyDelete"Murmuration" ... what a wonderful word.
DeleteNo, no murmurations here - well, none that I've seen. I don't think we have many starlings around here? I see and hear them occasionally, but never in double-digit numbers (or more).
DeleteI think Ms Scarlet has better luck with murmurations...?
More beautiful pictures! Hooray! I love it when you "catch a wave" with your camera!
ReplyDeleteFor every wave like that, there are about seven or eight damp squibs left on the cutting room floor!
DeleteYour seafront pictures are always gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe new header? Very you.(Of course, Scarlet might be a bit miffed at not seeing the FR ad...)
Yes, I have been sulking for a week.

Thank you, Dinah!
DeleteYes, it seems that the Ferrero Rocher header (or a similar one) may have to make a triumphant return at some point? I do have a tray of Rocher that need eating...
I am having visions of you buying an aquarium and creating a type of underwater Micheal Bentine's Potty Time. I don't know why I am having these visions. They are disturbing. Though also amusing.

Am I afforded the luxury of a scuba set-up (or at the very least a snorkel)? Or is there a lot of breath-holding going on?
