A wet, white flurry of mushy disappointment

It snowed this morning.  A wet, white flurry of mushy disappointment.  It wasn't cold enough for it to be that nice crisp, dry snow that's good to walk in, so I stayed in and made paper globes to replace the Christmas/Winterval baubles on the cake stands in the kitchen.

I quickly tired of drawing lilypads and colouring everything in blue - plus, my back started to ache as I was hunched over my desk - so the fourth one is still in its pre-made "flat-pack" state.

  1. Any opportunity to show off your baubles... Jx

PS We've only had the merest flurry of snow this winter, and that was a couple of weeks ago. Just rain. Best not tempt fate, however.

    1. This is the first proper snow we've had, but it's pretty rubbish* (and almost all gone now). There were a few flakes at the beginning of December, and I'm hoping that there'll be no more now.

      * It's like that soapy foam that was sprayed over Jennifer Saunders'/James Caan's car and the trees she was driving through in French & Saunders' Misery.

  2. I love the effect of your stepping stones under the snow and the way it looks as if you've parked in the middle of the road.
You haven't have you? It's Cromer not Bordesley Green!
Lovely baubles... I would have thought they were done professionally.

    1. I park Car wherever I like - Designated spaces are for the little people!

What Witchface means is that, yes, it does look like Car has been parked in the middle of the road. And thank you for complimenting my baubles.

  3. Oh wow! Love the baubles! The pain is worth it, trust me I know about these things. You need a desk that you can raise, or a slanted drawing board.
Slushy snow, ack, that’s no fun. Nothing here but wind and rain.

    1. Thank you, Ms Scarlet. I have been considering getting an adjustable desk for a little while now. Well, since I started working from home, really. I don't want to end up a hunchbacked old crone when I get old...

  4. I love your baubles!!!!!! What a creative idea. I'd love to see your baubles on display on said sideboard. I love the snowy pictures. I don't recall you ever posting snow day pictures before. Our winter is a bust so far. Been pretty mild.

    1. We don't really get much in the way of snow here, fortunately (only when there's an unusual/freak storm). I had a look back through the blog, and Feb/Mar 2018 was the last time there was any significant snow (and the only time I posted snow pictures), and before that it was March 2011 and December 2010.

Another compliment about my baubles - thank you! I'm making blue & white ones to complement the Spode china (that I inherited from my grandmother) that's now on the dresser. I'll take some photos once I've finished a few more and put them on display (the pine cones are staying).

  5. What lovely baubles! Look at you being all 'Geometry Gandalf' with the baubles, like the Buckminster Fuller of decoration and stuff. Those are cool as heck!

    1. Why, thank you, Ms Nations! Do I need a beard or something to be a 'Geometry Gandalf' - I hope not as I just shaved...

  6. If you want that nice crisp, dry snow that's good to walk in, I've got a shiteload of it here.

    Beautiful baubles, by the way.
