Making A Splash

The view from behind Château DeVice
I wasn't going to, but I couldn't help myselves...  I've unleashed another copious load of spume!

The sheltered gardens of Château DeVice were far too hot to potter about in yesterday morning, so I took a walk Ministry of Funny Walks hobble (bloody sciatica) down to the promenade to cool off in the East wind.  It was surprisingly rough down there...

The seemingly ever present Vos Gorgeous keeping an eye on proceedings (the Vos Trader was out there somewhere, too)

The Triffids were enjoying the breeze, too

Once down on the prom, cooling down wasn't a problem

Ow! My groyne!

Groynes were taking a pounding left, right and centre!

Vast swathes of spume surged through every crevice...

In a moment of calm, something familiar flies past...

Cormorant!  (last seen here)

  1. Wow! I didn't expect that much surf in your heatwave! Everyone is telling me how stifling it is." It's like trying to breathe through a wet blanket" said one person.
Yet, here you are having a good blow on the prom! And a shag to finish! ;-)

    1. It seems that everywhere but here on the coast (with our cooling breeze) is "enjoying" the heatwave #smugshag

  2. Hello, Vos Gorgeous!

Talk about rough and a trader to boot! So much going on! I hope you were able to make it home for a nice relaxing soak after all that hard banging and spurting from multiple directions.

Awesome fotos. Especially love the flowers on the cliff. Very exotic looking! Nice contrast to the rolling, smashing waves.

    1. I was worn out, I tell you! It's a good job the crew of the Gorgeous didn't disembark at the dock - I don't think I could've taken any more.

  3. I remember doing a post once catching the waves as they crash into land or groynes. One never knows when to stop snapping as the possibilities are endless with the look of each one. It's hot here too. Im off starting the July 4th holiday and heading to the beach myself for some sun and frolic. And listen to my summer song. I'm taking my square cuts and not mot much else....to hot to dress. Meanwhile I last baby bird left the nest...rather sad really.

    Tootles for now handsome!

    1. They grow up so quickly, don't they. As it's still relatively early in the season, mum and dad robin might have another brood?

Taking photos of waves is easy. Sorting out the hundreds and hundreds of different images is fraught with indecision! I hope we get to see plenty of you and the beach when you get bac!

  4. I too am surprised by your enormous spume! I haven't ventured to the coast so I don't know what it's like here in the west.... and the coast is only 30 minutes away! It'll be rammed.
Anyhow, a cormorant!!! I think I saw an escaped budgie the other day, but he was too high up for a decent picture. Probably been eaten by the local hawk by now. Poor thing.
Yes, the sun is still going to my head - can you tell? Is it obvious? Should I get a hat?

    1. Yes, perhaps a lovely wide-brimmed sun hat is in order. In fact, I think we could all do with one. Although, perhaps not as unwieldy as the one sported by Mistress Maddie's bear! Although it would offer plenty of protection against errant jets of spume...

Perhaps the hawk-snack escaped from some budgie-smugglers on the beach?

  5. Can you hear the crashing waves at night from Château DeVice? When I lived on Maui I had a nice ocean view, but could not hear it.

    1. Yes, the sound of the sea is pretty much constant but I have to concentrate to hear it now as I mostly tune it out. Only on the calmest of days/nights is it beyond hearing.

  6. Hope all that spume helped the sciatica... Jx

  7. I like it best when it whips up a frothy one and cakes your face with salty spray.

    1. Are you taking about the sea or one of those Spanish waiters?

  8. Oh no, sciatica! It's alright, we understand a numb bum is difficult to live with. Although apparently being felt up by a hot physio can help. Did you find one in the spume?

    1. Sadly, no hot physios emerged dramatically from the waves, like a muscular male Venus. I've actually got a session at the end of July in Cromer, but I very much doubt my physio will be hot, never mind male!

  9. Great photos, sweetpea! I think I must have missed the significance of the ship to your coastline, it is a lovely ship even without knowing. Anyway, wild waves! xoxo

    1. You haven't missed much, dear Savvy. The Vos Gorgeous' only significance is that it always seems to be hanging around waiting for another photo-shoot!
