2018: Starting As We Mean To Go On

 Firstly: Happy New Year everyone!

Right.  Now that that's out of the way, secondly: For 2018 we were going to completely change this blog - new content for a fresh start.  Out with the old, and in with the new!
However, coming up with new ideas, new themes, new everything just felt like far too much effort, so we switched on the autopilot and let it churn out the same old stuff as always.  As the following photos demonstrate.
Besides, some of you seem to like it judging by the comments in the previous post.
And if you don't and were just being polite, ha!  Another year of the same old beach photos and ropey old Star Trek art work is already in the pipeline!
  Here we go:

With sunrise scheduled for 08:08, we got up relatively early and meandered along the High Street to the Coast Road slipway in the hopes of getting a few snaps

As we were a little early, and the sun was rising over the land rather than the sea, we made our way to Tower Lane in Sidestrand for the best view.  Here's the End-of-the-Line as seen from space the cliff top

Ah.  The first glimpse of daybreak over Trimingham

Oof! Nearly there...

Ah.  Made it!

With sunrise out of the way, we turned back and headed home to Overstrand...

... not forgetting to get a blurry, long distance shot of Cromer Lighthouse for The Very Mistress

Coming back down Tower Lane, a look at the sun peeking out from behind the cliffs

And then back in Overstrand on the slipway

The hard working Vos Gorgeous on the west horizon (off the coast of Sheringham)

And there you have it.  The start of the first day of 2018 and yet another year of blogging.
Let's make 2018 a better year than 2017.  Happy New Year!

Does this mean that it's OK to continue with the "Damn it, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a ________." comments? I'm asking for Dr McCoy.

    PS: Happy New Year!

  2. What a gloriously gorgeous way to start the new year! No need to make any drastic changes. Don't mess with a winning formula--remember the disaster that was New Coke or Windows Vista?

How golden and ravishing and resplendent the aura that morning sun radiates as it rises and lights up the world. Just breathtaking. And what marvelously magnificent views from the top of the cliffs! Splendid beach shots. Riveting sea views. The lighthouse looks great, even from a distance. And it's so comforting to see the Gorgeous up and about, a steady presence in a new, don't-know-what-to-expect-so-let's-hope-for-the-best year.

Happy New Year to you and yours, IDV!

  3. This is fabulous but is it possible to get a photo of Beaky, perched on a Victoria Sponge Cake, overlooking the Cromer Lighthouse?

    1. I'll see what I can do, but I don't hold out much hope for my eyes. Or fingers. Or the Victoria sponge...

    2. I've gone online to see if I could make a Victoria Sponge and it doesn't look terribly challenging but I'm afraid of mucking it up.

    3. It is one of the easiest cakes - 4oz of everything and 2 eggs (plus a little milk), mix it all up together, divide into two cake tins and bake in a moderate oven for 20 mins or when just turning golden brown and spongey to the touch.
fill with jam and cream when cool, and dust with icing sugar (not too much in your case - after all, you wouldn't want to cause an icing sugar cloud when you sit on it...)

    4. This recipe sounds like something I can manage.

Thanks for the tip about the icing sugar.

Don't change the colour of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion

Nice photos, my dear - you must have been getting up as I went to bed... Jx

    1. I was going to say "you've not finished your sentence", but I've seen those tight trousered photos of you, and you were right the first time!

    2. They are tight, but this year I swear to go commando I believe. I hate to accidently sit on it.

  6. Well in that case: salty spray, groin innuendos amd commemts on cottaging and probably sailors.
What were you thinking of doing? Perhaps you could do it piecemeal?
I definitely think more pictures of beaky and big penises would be good!

    1. Your comment ended up in the Spam folder again! It was probably the suggestion of Beaky and big penises in the same sentence that did it ;)

As for sailors, my days at the dock are over - NO MATTER WHAT THE VERY MISTRESS MIGHT SAY!

    2. Days at the dock?!? Is that wear the warty wand came from?

    3. Quite possibly.

Although, I must point out that it wasn't mine - NO MATTER WHAT THE VERY MISTRESS MIGHT SAY!

  7. You know I'll never tire of your seaside pix. And the banter and good humour.
Here's to more people being like this.(Will we have to make more tin foil hats? If so, I need to get cracking...)

    1. Never say never, Dinah. You haven't seen how many photos are coming up in the next post!

Oh, and as for more Tin Foil Hats, I imagine I'll be running out of steam by the summer, so a good old fashioned Tin Foil Hat Compo may be just the right pick-me-up!

  8. With these daybreak pictures you are spoiling us....
I will carry on as normal though... but I guess I ought to write a blogpost or summink...

      *inclines head in greeting*

Does "summink" in this case = a murmuration of starlings, by any chance?

    2. I am waiting for the murmur to be so large that it is more like a shout, well, that was the plan, but it hasn't happened and I think I've missed my moment.

    3. Yikes! The sky is black as the Ace of Spades! It can only be your murmuration, grown so large that it is spanning the entire countr-

Oh. One of the SubCs has just pointed out that it's just night time...
