I've got to prepare for an invasion - I suspect The Little Witch and Vom Smallhäusen will appear any moment now - so, as I have just finished sorting out the photos I took on this morning's drift along the beach, I thought I'd pop the least boring up here for you to peruse while I'm battening down the hatches etc. Besides, I haven't furnished you with beach pics for quite some time, so this will be a nice(?) change from Triffids and such (although there are some triffids here).
I shall return once normality has descended upon Hexenhäusli Device once more...
I walked as far as Sidestrand. This is the view west, from whence I came.
Sea Kale (Crambe maritima)
and that little flower at bottom left might be Sea Stock (Matthiola sinuata)
I thought I'd taken some better photos of the irises and orchids,
but Camera did its usual sterling job of focusing on anything but them!
Uh, oh... They're here!
Hurrah! Beach weather is here at last! (Well, almost - it's so windy here that it takes the edge off the sunny spells and keeps dragging in more greyness in its wake.) Jx
ReplyDeleteWindy? That makes a change that you're getting it and we're not. Hopefully the greyness won't last, though.
DeleteI must admit, at this time of year, I prefer my skies with a bit of cloud so I can go outside without getting burnt to a crisp!
How do you define "normality?"
ReplyDeleteAh, the million dollar question...
DeleteI wanna be where you are... sigh. Lovely photos, as always. Thank you for sharing. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very nice day yesterday, and will be even better today (not to rub it in). It even had the decency to rain last night, so I won't have to go up the allotment and water things.
DeleteYou'd be welcome to sit in my secluded beach garden with me, Mr Tonking. And I'm sure Maddie will pay us a visit as her 'Gin Trap' beach hut isn't far away...
I love the view lurking behind you, it reminds me of Lord Hereford's Knob.
ReplyDeleteI take it you're familiar with Lord Hereford's Knob, Mitzi? Have you ascended to its peak and sat astride it?
DeleteSea kale looks like it gives the right impression of being tough as old boots. If ordinary kale could give that accurate impression as well it would be good. I feel slightly bad that in the most land locked part of the country I buy dried seaweed, and because it's the Chinese quarter it's imported from china. Bah.
ReplyDeleteThat kale was very rubbery - not unlike pond liner.
DeleteSeaweed from China?? I suppose it's still cheaper than a ticket to the coast so you can pick-your-own. Just out of curiosity, what do you use it for - cooking? Health benefits?
Hoorah!!! Some beach pictures!!!! They look so inviting and refreshing - it's flipping cold here. I hope you survived the invasion.
ReplyDeleteSx
It was warm when I took these, then it was cool, and now it's bloody boiling! I want to go down to the beach to cool off, but fear that I'll be burnt to a crisp before I'm halfway there.
