Bluebell Blowout

Also available in white - ask at the front desk for details
As yesterday's bluebell show seemed quite popular, I thought I'd remain on the bandwagon and bring you a far more local display - from just a quick wander up the road, rather than 20-odd miles away at Pensthorpe.  In fact, I could have saved myself some time and money (and blue fingers from the cold) by doing this yesterday instead of the Pensthorpe trip!

You might notice a smudge of orange to the left of that scrub in the middle up there.  It seems something was busy digging a new burrow as can be seen a bit more clearly in the close up below:

::

And now for some non-bluebell stuff, including a witch wringer (ghastly piece of kit), the skewed railway bridge, some moss, and the old reservoir complete with a couple of tufted ducks.

  1. Listen up here's a story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees
Is just blue like him inside and outside

    I'm blue

  2. Yay! More awesome pictures! I'll try to copy and paste about three of your pictures from yesterday and then they've got to come here if they want to see the rest!

    2. Thank you, Melanie. I think you've picked the best three photos. Sorry it took a while to check in.

  3. I spent a ton of money at the nursery today and a few hours planting up a storm at The Boyfriend's house. He watched. It was hard work, but fun and it's also very anxiety producing. I know it won't all take and it won't all be successful, but fingers crossed. Love bluebells. So pretty. Some of my lily of the valley is in bloom, so that's nice, too. I have so much work to do. Once I get started, I really get into it. But getting started. Not so easy. Lots of weeding and transplanting to be done. I need to move some stuff around. Thanks for the super pics. Keep sharing. Such a wonderful time of year.

    1. It's so easy to spend far more than one intends at the nursery/garden centre - I do it ALL the time!
As long as you keep your new plants well watered until they settle in, I'm sure they'll be fine. Actually, it's been nearly two weeks now - How are they looking?

I remember that old abandoned railway from your post before. It's so neat to see...a place time has forgotten.

  6. I mean this nicely and kindly, as your friend and without a hint of sarcasm, but that orange stuff dug out from the burrow bears a passing resemblance to the elephant's foot at Chernobyl. For your safety a geiger counter would be good.
Don't thank me, part of my mission is to let people know how dangerous the countrycide is.

    2. Not original I'm afraid, from Torchwood.

    3. Heh! "Countrycide" made me titter, too. Oh, gods - It wasn't uttered by that Barrowman buffoon, was it?

  7. What a field of Blue Bells. I wouldn't mind sitting amongst them. Yourself and the Mistress need to do a nature book of flora, fauna and birds.

    1. A couple of weeks ago when these were taken, you'd've had to have been bundled up in plenty of warm clothing to sit out in that sea of blue. Today though, you could take a leaf out of Mistress Maddie's book and lounge amongst them as nature intended (which, I'm sure would be the main point of Maddie's part of the book)! Yes, we finally have temperatures worth writing home about!

    1. Here I am! And I have banished the spammers to somewhere unspeakable. How dare they - I was only gone a week or two.
