Yes, it's time for some Terrifying Triffidery!
Welcome to the show! I hope you weren't blinded by the sun in the previous post otherwise these Triffids will find you easy prey. I advise observing the triffids in groups of two or three - do not go it alone - and keep well back (you should all be used to social distancing by now, anyway).
If you make it out alive, I wonder if you can guess the real world plants that these monstrous specimens sprang from? And which of you lovely Blogorati sent them in? Please note (and I must channel The Very Mistress here): "The Management reminds you that the Garden Photos Event is NOT a contest", so I shan't be keeping score, and there shall be no points or prizes - this is just for a bit of fun.
The plants and their keepers will be revealed in the main event in a couple of days time.
As with one or two things in life, giving the images a poke or prod will see them engorge in size (well, most of them, anyway...). Don't poke them too much, mind - you're liable to lose your arm!
First up, this truly terrifying Triffid
(which was so scary that I used it for the header image):
And what's this? Audrey II budding in the hopes of taking over the world?
In a vile take on 70s party food staple the cheese-n-pineapple hedgehog,
is this purple-pecan-on-a-stick monstrosity:
What eldritch nightmare is invading this "Hell"ical specimen?
Life's a Drag...
... especially when it's so terrifying that it has to be chained up!
Ribbed. But for whose pleasure?
And this horror show wouldn't look out of place in the depths of the Black Lagoon!
Speaking of black lagoons... Well, brown ones really...
Hold your nose and try not to fall in!
Is this Terrible Triffid hungry for money or flesh? Or both?!?
The final triffid exhibit exudes a mysterious, yet sophisticated je ne sais quois, and also managed to slink in WAY past the deadline - almost as if it forgot/didn't realise the Event was happening...
(I wonder who could possibly own/harbour such a specimen?)
And there you have it! Such a bunch of horrible horticulture I never did see. I hope you have fun trying to guess what these triffids mutated from,
and which of you have been harbouring such ghastly greenery.
Thank you to everyone who sent something in and made this Garden Photos Event attraction a success. The main event -
The 10th Anniversary I N F O M A N I A C Garden Photos Event
- will begin here in a couple of days or so.
Be sure to pop back to have a nose around this eclectic collection of botanical wonders. And if you haven't submitted anything yet, or want to add to your existing entry, please email me your photos in the next couple of days.
~o~
While we're in the mood, let's finish off with a musical number, shall we?
Monstrous - and a DRAG QUEEN, to boot! I suspect Miss Mow's been about... Jx
ReplyDeleteEspecially for you, dear!
DeleteDinahmow's Drag Queen gets about almost as much as Mistress Maddie!
DeleteOh my, thank goodness I wore my protective ensemble from these probing things. And I suspect Jon engorged stamen is in this mix somewhere. These are wonderful!!!! I also would like to know who in hell used my wig???
ReplyDeleteAnd where is Norma? She can't be far, I see that jar of Vaseline of the ground....
Head-to-toe in glistening wipe-clean rubber, topped with dark glasses, that MASSIVE hat, and a veil - you might just get through this unscathed, Maddie!
DeleteI do like the mysterious one! And the purple pecan. They are all so good! Ack. I can't match them to bloggers though.
ReplyDeleteSx
Yes, I like the mysterious one too* - a classic, black & white horror movie still.
DeleteI did think about including a clue as to the Triffids Blogorati masters/slaves, but then I couldn't be bothered. Although, one or two have almost unintentional clues...
* No more or no less than any of the others, as "The Garden Photos Event - and any of its associated attractions - is not a competition", of course.
Blimey, who took the horror show pics? They are excellent.
ReplyDeleteSx
All shall be revealed in the coming Garden Photos Event posts, Ms Scarlet.
DeleteThat first Triffid appears to be vomiting purple coronavirus spores. I hope you're masked-up.
ReplyDeleteFor this lot, I wasn't taking any chances and decked myself out with a suit of armour topped off with full hazmat gear! I was a bit hot...
DeleteI am popping over from the Mistress Borghese's halloween festivities and I can see why she adores you. Who would have thought close ups could be this intresting?!?!? Not I. This was the most usual show I've ever toured. I really need to watch what greenhouse I go in.
ReplyDeleteMs Goldberg-DeWolfs! How lovely of you to pop by and examine our monstrous specimens. Don't worry, I've locked the most dangerous greenhouse.
DeleteOr did I?
Hmmm... Where's the key...
P.S. I love your table settings at Maddie's 'Happy Moments' posts - they always make me happy. And envious!
Did I win yet? (SOMEBODY had to ask in xl's honor!) xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnd in The Very Mistress's time honoured tradition of replying to xl/LX: "The Management reminds you that the Garden Photos Event is NOT a contest!"
Deletea poke or prod will see them engorge in size. you really are tempting maddie to send in his own engorged triffid.
ReplyDeletebut i must admit, this was cool as hell.
Ah, thank you Ms Moorecock!
DeletePerhaps I'll choose my words more carefully next time? ;)
Gosh what a fab collection of wonders.
ReplyDeleteI love them all so perhaps they should win.
Aren't they wonderful?! I must admit, I love what Jon's done with your Salvia - it truly is terrifying!
