I kept my trousers on...

... as per Ms Scarlet's advice, but I did roll up the bottoms!

Well, wouldn't you when faced with a beach like this?

Overstrand beach today

Looks all right, doesn't it?  Despite being a little misty over Sidestrand way

Not misty enough to obscure PEOPLE!  Bah.

I had to shrink myself to get away from them

I navigated canyons ...

... chalkscapes ...

... and lakes in an effort to avoid them ...

... and discovered some more fossilised "Johnny"/jumper sleeve/J-cloth/Fanny Craddock's cheese grater/snood/Flintstones dinosaur tire tracks/Fanny's piss pot etc. etc.

Ah. Back to normal (or whatever passes as) in Sidestrand

Time to head back

Urgh!  More people ruining an otherwise perfectly acceptable End-of-the-Line shot.

oOo

If/when you come to comment and think it looks a bit weird (i.e. not how it used to), you have Ms Scarlet to thank, as she is experiencing technical difficulties with Blogspot.

EDIT: Everything's back to normal now.  Comment-wise, anyway.  Ms Scarlet has made some cookies, or something...

  1. Beautiful golden sands - who needs St Lucia?!

PS this old-fashioned comments business reminds me of MySpace in 2007...

    1. Have no fear, Jon. Ms Scarlet has righted herself, so I have rejoined the current decade!

  2. I am so jealous of the sandy beaches WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE!!!! I have to get in a car to get to the coast and this weekend a trip that usually takes 25 minutes will take 3 hrs! I will have to make do with seeing what's on my doorstep via Instagram and Pinterest instead.
In blogging days of yore wasn't the comment box located top right? I am still trying to find a Safari solution to this comment problem, it's to do with 3rd party cookies - but I've unchecked all the relevant boxes and I'm at a loss what to do next.

    1. I recall a pop-up box for commenting in, as well as the full page comment section on some blogs (and temporarily this one), but not a top right jobbie. Had the cookies been opened? I wouldn't want to eat any from a third party if some unknown person has had their grubby mitts in them...

I am sorry your beaches are so out of reach during nice weather. Would the octopus sucker bath mat be able to take you, or does the salty air affect its aerial abilities?

  3. I can no longer comment at Jon's. What happened was that there was an Apple update last week, which was fine, and then at some point yesterday I decided to clear my Safari history/cookies, and now I'm stuffed. I will try turning it off and on again. You never know.

    1. Apple cookies? Only if they have sultanas and cinnamon in them, too.

  4. It worked!!! I turned it off and on again and I can comment again at Jon's, so you may now go back to your preferred comment box, Mr Devine! Thank you for your help!

  5. Ah ha, caught you out. That isn't a real beach. I can tell because there isn't a single condom, needle, nappy, dead animal or chav in sight. It's a sort of John Lewis fantasy of a beach. Or it might be the set for an unmade Sapphire and Steel.
What have you done with the real one?

    1. Drat! You've seen through my glamour. You and your third eye. Now John Lewis is going to have my legs broken!

  6. What a lovely broad stretch of beach, so very tranquil.

    1. Tranquil?!? Did you not see those people in the distance? Gah! They ruin everything with their walking, and breathing, and quietly looking at things. I'll have to get them charged with an Anti-Social Behaviour Order!

    1. Ug. They're too close. Too close! I feel suffocated. Have they no concept of personal space??

  8. I've just been for a wander down to the beach. Got a sunburnt nose to show for it There were several kids actually in the water! True, the lifeguards were there, but man! that see was lumpy. The view from our house when the waves are lumpy and tall is what I call "Camargue Horses "

    1. Ooh, you can see the sea from your house?! Hexenhäusli deVice has "sea glimpses" if one stands on tiptoes before the leaves come out on the trees.
I took some photos of "Camargue Horses" yesterday when I popped down to the beach for some fresh air. THere was no chance of getting sunburnt, though.

Tickle my fancy, why don't you?
