A Discovery of Derrières

Originally, this bottom-related post was just going to be an aside in another post, as it only featured one pert posterior, that of the rather yummy Lieutenant Bryce (portrayed by the equally yummy Ronnie Rowe Jr.), communications officer (just like Lt. Uhura) aboard the USS Discovery.

Here's Lt. Bryce and his delightful derrière, along with (right to left) Commander Saru, Captain Pike, and Admiral Cornwell

But then, a recent episode displayed gratuitous shots - bordering on the obscene! - of the new Spock's spacesuit clad buttocks.  I, along with many others, had to reach for the smelling salts.  And then lost several hours wearing the pause and rewind buttons out...

Spock and his foster sister, star-of-the-show, Michael Burnham

First glimpse of that arse!  Look's like Michael's seen something else, though...

Oh...
My...
Gods...

Say what you like about Ethan Peck Spock (yes, Gregory Peck's grandson), but with an arse like that, he's here to stay!

::

While we're here, we might as well have a one more photo of Captain Christopher "Silver Fox" Pike to ogle, too (and one of Anson Mount who plays Pike so well):

Admiral Cornwell (Jayne Brook) and Captain Pike

I need to go for a lay down...

  6. New Spock ? I had no idea that "Spock" was so hairy. Capt'n Pike seems to be a doller Hecht ...

    1. I must admit, hairy Spock gave me a bit of a surprise, but the beard has grown on me (well, not on me, exactly, but you know what I mean).

I tried looking up "doller Hecht". I found that Hecht = Pike, but doller seems to be a surname, Daniels? Googling both words together brings up an origami flower (folder out of a Dollar bill) designed by Stephen Hecht. What does it all mean?

    2. Jack ? No, sorry, I have no business with Mr Daniels for a ages now.

I startpaged "doller Hecht" and the first was this site - a recipe for grilled pike.
Nobody wants to grill Mr Pike, that's for sure.

Yes it is a misbegotten play on words. "Pike" translates as "Hecht", as you correctly identified.
"Toll" - translations here - means "great", "awesome" etcetc. Ein doller Hecht is a, slightly ironic, impressive person, often self-proclaimed. The already linked dictionaire translates "toller Hecht" as "stunner" ; the soft "d" brakes the seriousness of the claim a bit.
BTW, as Franconian I have to warn you about these softifications : It is a cruel joke of Mrs Nature, but we do change "t" for "d", "p" for "b" ; so if you should it ever hear spoken, it might be a little confusing, but it is for other German speaking people ( = the bloody rest) too.
No worries IDV, I just saied that Mr Pike is presentable.

    3. Ah, it was the soft 'd' that threw me! I knew I must have misinterpreted somewhere, and that was it.
Still, it's always good to work for a "presentable" outcome. And Mr Pike, is presentable, indeed!
