Landscapes Beyond the End-of-the-Line

A Southern Hawker dragonfly from Thursday afternoon
(please ignore the bird poo)
Beyond the End-of-the-Line, as I'm sure you're aware by now, lies a Cusp interface through which one may access quite a variety of lands.  The Kingdom of the Crab People, the Chalk Rafts of Verstrandt, the last NightShip stop, to name but a few.
Unfortunately, Thursday's jaunt past the End-of-the-Line led only to the sticky, yet slippery (but quite dramatic) clay strata of Sidestrand…
First though is a visitor to Château DeVice's bird shit festooned garden, and a couple of photos from a very rough Monday morning:

The following photos are from Thursday morning:

Hmmm... Must remember to clean Camera's lens...

The End-of-the-Line

Oh.  Is that all it was?  Just some slippery old bits of clay?

    1. You are insatiable!

(If you squint, there's a very small shag occurring at the end of the groyne in the sixth photo - just before the first End-of-the-Line photo)

    1. It is practically the End Times, Maddie!
If it makes you feel better, the temperature wasn't conducive to sun bathing or swimming.

    1. There're still quite a few about here, Jon. Although, I expect they'll be dying off imminently.

  4. It has now turned nippy... and Wednesday may well be the last day in 2018 for some generous late summer warmth. AND then the skies blacken and we are thrown into the grey drizzly murk that heralds deep dark winter days featuring angry skies, rough seas, plunging temperatures, and Ms Scarlet waffling on about unwritten Christmas cards.

    1. Yes, it is certainly nippy in the mornings now. I've just looked at the forecast for North Norfolk, and it appears that our Summer may cling on until Saturday, with sunshine and temperatures of 18-20° (although, the wind will pick up and those rain clouds are due on Saturday afternoon...).

Oh. Yes. Tis the season for good intentions, but little action. I must start making lists!

Maybe after I've watched Strictly, though...

  5. I don't think I've knowingly seen a dragon fly in reality.
But I have def seen a dragon and lots of flies...

    1. Birmingham's pretty moist, isn't it? Doesn't it have more canals than Venice? Or am I thinking of Manchester? Anyway, I'm sure there are plenty of dragonflies around somewhere.

  6. "... to the groyne - and beyond !"

Is this really clay in the last picture ? Can you form it ?

    1. It certainly is. In fact, all those photos after the End-of-the-Line are of clay - And looking rather compressed and striated. On its way to becoming slate, I think? Although, at the mo, it is still soft enough to be moulded and formed into sculptures.
