Spring Cleaning

Just attempting a little Spring cleaning on the blog. The previous template has served us well over the past nine or so years, but we (well, most of us - The Host's SubC is a bit stroppy about it) felt like a change.

Wicked Queen

Mecagothix

We're toying with replacing the title with one of the above, as we're not convinced of the look of the existing Crushed font (which briefly appears as Comic Sans before settling into the proper font). What do you think?

EDIT 20:06 - Let me know if anything looks a bit odd, or if things are too big/small/difficult to see etc. For example, I think the picture caption text may be a bit small - I can see it OK, just about, but then I'm looking at this on quite a big PC screen. Do any of you read this blog from a mobile/cell phone or tablet?

  1. I can't see a font in your header at the minute? But I like the idea of the 2nd font as illustrated in your post.... sort of textured gothic... very nice.

  3. Oh yes, that's a little bit better... I understand that you are afraid of the light?

  4. Well, I wouldn't want anything to mar the lily-white glow I've been cultivating.

  5. It's all black&white here - so good contrasts. The only part I have difficulties with is the picture caption, as you already mentioned, it is a bit small.
I have no idea how the two variants you have picked will look, but I tent to the second one, the "megagothix" - but of course, do as You please.

  6. I've had a fiddle and managed to make all the text a little larger and (hopefully) more readable.
I must admit, Mago (and Ms Scarlet), that I'm leaning more towards the Wicked Queen font, but that might just be because of its name...

  7. I know, I've bought lipstick simply because it was called Scarlet... doesn't mean to say it suits me though :-(

  8. Actually, I think you've chosen the right one for your blog, I don't think the Gothic would look as good... especially on your header :-)

  9. Come to think of it, I never bought lipstick for myself.

  10. I do really like the Gothic one, Ms Lipstick- Uh, I mean, Ms Scarlet, but I agree with you that it won't look so good against that spirally background header-thingy (which I'm keeping, or may also re-do).

Mago: Is that just because a shade called Mago has yet to be released?

  11. Really, it's missing ! But one would have to be careful with the product-naming, all those mango-jokes ...

    "A shade of Mago" - ?

  12. Ha ha ha! Somehow, I don't think mango is your colour!

  13. So far I love the new look! And on both my laptop and cell, it looks great. But it's a shame to do all this work and still keep that same hair do.

  14. If we're talking design, it is difficult to say which font I prefer without seeing the graphic context. If we're talking words only, I prefer the Wicked Queen font.

    Did I win yet?

PS: I would likely need something from the Heavy Duty Collection.

  15. I'm glad the new look has found your favour, Mistress Maddie. Don't worry, I'll be changing the hair - after all, we don't want unmatching collar & cuffs, do we?

Hooray! Another vote for Wicked Queen! Thanks, LX. Winners will be notified in writing within 28 working days.

I think the purple tube 'do' could really take off!

  16. I like Wicked Queen. I can read it better. Now that I'm old I appreciate function over form...oh wait...I did before.

Wicked Queen. I can read it better. Still.

  18. What if I make you wear those funny lens frames that opticians use on you and keep changing the lens strengths along with covering and uncovering each eye, Roses?

Your vote may be the decider, Savvy, so it looks like the new font might indeed be Wicked Queen! I've just got to sort out a new/updated background image for it.

As for the cake: A whole one? I hope you're planning on sharing.
