"Four Photos" is an idea I've just had to help me get back to our little corner of the BlogWorld.
Rather than spend hours trying to work out what to say (if I don't have anything to say), or how to say it (if I do), I just need to select four photos that I've taken and slap them up here on my blog with as little or as much accompanying text as I feel is necessary or can be bothered with.
There doesn't need to be a theme, or anything that links the chosen photos, and they don't even have to be recent ones, but they do have to be photos I've taken. (I'm considering family photos as well - just in case I happen to look at old photo albums and see something of interest.)
This first set, you will see, does have a theme. Well, the first three do, anyway. Bees!
Just over three weeks ago I was up at the allotment and noticed a rather loud buzzing. Once I'd worked out where the noise was coming from, I saw the air over number 37 (next door but two to mine) was rather hazy. Putting down my tools, I wandered over to investigate.
It's not readily noticeable in this photo, but the air was thick with honeybees - I didn't get any closer.
I don't know if they were coming or going.
You can't really make out the bees in front of the blackthorn blossom, but look at the sky between the branches and twigs.

Oblivious to the danger lurking under the swing, Bitey rolls around on the lawn.

Should anyone else who is suffering from the 'blog uselessness' bug think that this 'Four Photos' treatment may help them, please feel free to use it.
I love this idea, sweetpea! Sometimes sharing photos is the best way to let others (sort of) know we're alive and (marginally) kicking (as my Mama used to say)! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWell, it wasn't the least I could do, but it was pretty close!
DeleteI'm afraid I am going to have to refer to you as Madame Maria von Bohlen from now on... Jx
ReplyDeleteOh, I haven't seen that one. I vaguely remember watching The Swarm (with Michael Caine) when I was very young, though.
DeleteYou crazy getting that close to bees!!!! But we love them anyhow. I love that first picture.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind being close to bees, but I wasn't going to get too close to a swarm like that. Camera's telescopic lens did all the leg work.
DeleteIt's nice to see a post from you. I will try to post soon myself. Our blogging community here is the community I talk to in my head. We have so many adventures you aren't even aware of. I'll say one thing about finding myself under the oppressive boot of an authoritarian regime, I've suddenly found my fire for creating art as a form of resistance and activism. I'll be sharing some of that, soonish.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you find yourself Over the Cusp on your blogging adventures. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with - and how many of us you drag along with you!
DeleteOh My Gosh. You have a Hobbit Hole in your garden. How fab is that.
ReplyDeleteI love just to sit in the garden and watch the bees go about their business.
Four fab photos.
Keep calm
and carry on
Blogging.
Oh, that's not my Hobbit Hole, unfortunately - it belongs to a neighbouring allomenteer. I do have rat holes in my compost heap, though. And one less rat as of today - Bitey caught one and gouged its brains out!
DeleteGood old Bitey !
DeleteWonderful idea, my friend! I might try it myself!
ReplyDeleteBees down the chimney season begins about now, doesn't it, but I've only really seen Bumble Bees so far, so it's good to see Honey Bees thriving in Norfolk.
Sx
I was rather hoping that you - and maybe one or two more - might take up the Four Photos challenge. Rather less effort required than the 10DBC!
DeleteWe're certainly getting towards bees up/down chimney season.
Sweet are the flowers in my garden and the bees are very pleased...
ReplyDeleteGood idea, I need a new project I've been flicking through old family photo albums of my mother's, sorting and binning, getting on the maids nerves by constantly saying he's dead, she's dead, a bit like watching an episode of Last of the Summer Wine.
I found my eyes narrowing (as you might purse your lips) at your "sweet flowers" comment, dear Mitzi. I am having thoughts.
DeleteI was quoting lyrics from a song called Queen Bee by Middle of the Road, the same group that brought us Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. Way before my time of course. Mother had the album.
