Damselflies Doing It!

Aaaaarrrrgh!  I'm having the devil of a time trying to comment both here and on any other Blogger blog.  Blogger tells me I'm either not signed in (clearly I am as I've managed to post this!), or 'There has been an error.  Please try later."  Oh, shit off!

I wonder if this is the same problem that Melanie was having last month?

Wordpress blogs don't seem to be affected though, as I've just commented successfully at Ms Scarlet's...

As I can't be arsed to deal with this nonsense right now (too hot!), here are some photos from my earlier escapades around the pond:

Common Blue Damselfly (Enellagma Cyathigerum) on a Primula leaf

Damselflies Doing It!!!  And right in front of me too...

If you don't sort yourself out, Google/Blogger, this could be you...

::

EDIT: 23.05.2022 19:09 - I thought it Blogger had sorted itself out, but after four comments, I got the dreaded "Failed to publish comment.  Please try again later" message.  [sad face]

I'm not ignoring you, I promise!

EDIT: 23.05.2022 19:14 - It worked once more then decided that was enough.  Grrrrrrr....

  1. Everyone seems to be plagued with this Comment dilemma, I don't even know if this one will show up... it's so random now when it works or fails to.

    1. It worked! It worked!!! Random is about right - I didn't do anything (except wait for what seemed like an interminably long time for the comment box to open properly after first clicking on it) and I managed to leave a rely to Ms Scarlet and Dinah below! Yay!!

  2. Have you looked at your cookie settings - I have to allow ‘tracking’ to be able to comment on Blogger blogs - so have to go into my settings every time I’m doing a comment rally. I thought this was a Safari problem, but maybe it’s now moved to other browsers - give the cookie thing a go in any case.
Fabulous pond pictures! I will have to go and see what’s going on in my swamp.

    1. That's strange dear MsScarlet. I have set the settings at "never allow anything only remotely capable of tracking, and generally kill all cookies", and I can comment easyly on blogger. (Browser is a ff, latest edition for linux users.)

    2. I’m puzzled that I don’t have a problem, but where there’s a will there’s a way! I need a list of devices and browsers that people are using to detect what’s going on, and I will go down in blogging history as being a digital Ms Marple!

    3. Well, let's see if this tired old Wordpresser can get in...It probably wouldn't matter if I'm shut out as I have nothing to say, really. But it's churlish not to pop in and give these tardy old bloggers a gee-up! (runs away before someone throws a muddy toad in this direction!)

    5. Yay! It worked at last!!

Ms Scarlet, I didn't look at my cookies in case they all got et (and not because I got scared/apprehensively frustrated), but now it works!
By the way, I use Firefox on a Lenovo PC (no phone/tablet for me - too small for my giant hands).

    6. I had Firefox a few years ago and then it refused to co-operate with a non-Apple user. So I'm stuck with Wordpress and Google. And you wonder my wine bill keeps going up!

    7. I have just typed "cookies" into my Settings area and a little window about privacy popped up which asked for a website address that I want cookies to be enabled for (I think). Anyway, I input this blog address and came straight here to see what happens.
Well, the comment box is immediately accessible for a start (I was waiting ages for it to fully open and begin typing before). I'm going to press 'Publish' now (this is my first attempt)...

    8. Yay! It worked! Thank you Ms Scarlet! Now I won't have a wine bill like Dinah's!!

    9. Miss Scarlet is correct - it is a conflict between Blogger's comment box and a browser's security settings. I have to switch off "enhanced tracking protection" (the shield icon top left of the URL address of the page) in Firefox for most blogs before I can comment - and then sometimes for no apparent reason the comment box "freezes" completely and I have to switch AdBlock on and off before I can get into it.

It's remarkable how a mega-geek company such as Google, with all its resources, can still fuck up a new "improved" widget like this simply by not testing it properly on more browsers than just its own (dreadful) Chrome... Jx

    10. I have just commented - possibly more than once, due to the above mentioned errors - on your post with the holiday snaps, so apologies for the spamming. I should have read your comment here first.

  3. Strange, usually bogger only keeps wordpress users out ...

  4. This comment was described as "published", then i was told that "an error occurred - reload the site" - and voila, here is the comment in all its beauty.

  5. Oh, it could be to do with the Blogger themes - the new comment box might not be compatible with some themes - we’ve had that issue before.

    1. I'm sorry Mr Tonking - your comment found its way into the sam folder (I also found one of Jon's in there, too). I shall be having words with the security staff, as you're on the guest list and not to be turned away!

  9. I know it's been years, but I'm still mad at Blogger for threatening my blog when Blogger went through a brief no-smut phase. I fled to Wordpress then.

I haven't had any problems so far but it does seem like blogger has turned into Tumblr.
