I wasn't going to post more snow photos because I'm sure those of us with snow are sick of it, and for those without it's just rubbing your noses in it. However, I'm still working on the post which I'd intended to publish, so as I've gone to all the effort of trudging around the frozen countryside this morning, you might as well have a look at the best bits.
The photo above is the view across to Hungry Hill. To the left is the old reservoir which, as you'll see from the photos below, is frozen over. But doesn't it look lovely?
It's going to start getting warmer (less cold?) tomorrow - possibly up to the heady heights of 3°C. And then on Monday & Tuesday it'll be t-shirt & shorts temperatures: 10-11°C! Fancy.
Thank you for the trees!
ReplyDeleteIt was minus 30 degrees Celsius here this morning.
Who allowed that? -30 should be illegal. -1 is bad enough!
DeleteWhaaat! Where the heck are you- North of Manitoba?
DeleteDinah, sweetie, Cromer is actually further north than Winnipeg, Manitoba! [And London is on the same latitude as Calgary...]
DeleteThe difference is that (normally) we in the UK get the benefit of the Gulf Stream. Jx
We've been up to a balmy 0C today... Jx
ReplyDeleteAs much as that? I expect those layers were being peeled off left right and centre!
DeleteSpeedos, Ambre Solaire, the lot! Jx
DeleteDon't forget your sun glasses. There's bound to be a lot of glare.
DeleteGoodness you are having a burst of productivity!
ReplyDeleteI still love the place names near you and wonder what the hill is hungry for.
If I don't see Speedos here next time I will be bitterly disappointed.
I know! I surprised myself.
DeleteSometimes, I have vague notions of looking up how the places around here got their names, but I always seem to get distracted with other things. Certainly no time for it now, as I have some Speedos to wrangle...
Oh thank You ! I remember the bridge, well built, craftmanship involved. I like these remains. It is minus 8 C and sinking. Tomorrow shall be a clear sunny day with themperature rising up to minus 4 on midday.. Generally rising temperature will bring rain, and hence ice.. But the worst will be over before I have to start working again.
ReplyDeleteI hope those temperatures continue to rise, Mago.
DeleteUtterly enchanting!
ReplyDeleteThe snow? Or the promise of Jon in Speedos?
DeleteBe careful...I might post our former Prime Minister in his bright red speedos...
DeleteYaaargh! Don't you threaten me!
DeleteOh go on with you, it's not like the snow thing happens very often, so post as many artic looking pics as you want.
ReplyDeleteWe had sleety stuff and a 100mph wind. It was nasty.
Sx
Yikes! 100mph?! And I was cross with the 50mph that we had here...
DeleteI might have been a little overdramatic with the 100mph bit - which isn't like me at all!
DeleteSx
No, it isn't. Which is why I totally and utterly believed you.
DeleteLovely to look at,
ReplyDeleteDelightful to hold,
But if I had to be in it,
I'd be fucking cold!
stay safe and warm, sweetpea! xoxox
Ha ha! That's pretty much how I feel, Savvy ;)
DeleteOne of my favorite sounds is the wind passing through the grasses. I bet this second picture sounds very nice.
ReplyDeleteActually, it was awful, Melanie. What these photos don't convey is the bitter, lashing wind that drove ice particles into my face as I tried to take them. And the howling, tearing sound of it around me and the reeds.
DeleteFortunately, it was quite sheltered down in the valley amongst the trees (and near that bridge).
Now it's warmed up a bit and the snow's almost all gone, I'm sure it sounds delightful!
Oh yes, now I know the kind of wind you mean! That kind is not so fun.
