Hawk moth, that is. Well, in caterpillar form, anyway:
I whined over at Ms Nations' place not so long ago that I hadn't seen an elephant hawk moth caterpillar in years. However, while on my way back from the allotment earlier, what should be crossing the track but this enormous thing - it was as big as my finger!
[I was going to put up a Garden Photos Event reminder today, but time has escaped me, so I'll do one next week instead)]
They are scarily big! I wonder if it'll have time to pupate before winter kicks in? Jx
ReplyDelete"Pupate" sounds rude, somehow, doesn't it?
DeleteYou're getting confused with "prepuce". Again. Jx
DeletePreposterous.
DeletePerpetually imPudent!
DeleteThis is not just a part of another exploded snake ?
ReplyDeleteOff-topic but I have a message for Mago. I tried to leave a message on your blog today (Wednesday) but it didn't work. Alas.
DeleteUpdate: Mago, I see my comment on your blog now. I'm "Anonymous." But you probably knew it was me becasue of the mention of CAKE.
DeleteExploded snake cake? I think I'll pass on that one...
DeleteI thought it was an extravagant slug.
ReplyDeleteSx
Extravagant Slug is the new name of my punk band.
DeleteWhere can I buy tickets?
DeleteSeek and ye shall find! And I am so very, very glad that I shall never find one. Glad theres a whole continent and an ocean between me and that motile appendix too. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteAppendix? This thing is the size of your colon!
DeleteSo cool! I hope it has the opportunity to go through its full life cycle without being stepped on or eaten.
ReplyDeleteI did help it across the track to stop it being stepped on - although, it probably would have been okay as most people would have run a mile upon spotting it.
DeleteIt looks likes something a small dog would crimp off.
ReplyDelete"Crimping off" something this size would cause Bitey's eyes to water!
