Life on the Embankment (with Bonus Beach Scenes!)

In a "Where's Waldo?" type affair, can you spot the deer and three galliformes in this photo?

We're revisiting the embankment behind Hexenhäusli Device as, since the last time it featured here, I managed to snap some of its visitors and passers through.
Above and to the right, from 1st May, are embankment regulars: a muntjac deer, the big, bronze cock pheasant, and the pair of partridges (of the red-legged variety).

From the 30th April (below) is a juvenile sparrowhawk that I just managed to snap as it took off from its perch.

Yikes!

Then, just now as I was basking in the morning sun on the paysho, I noticed this adult roe deer lurking behind the big sycamore.  With stealth and grace (i.e. I managed not to blunder into the garden furniture or pots as I crept backwards towards the house), I retreated indoors to grab Camera and took these photos from the living room.

"Peek-a-boo!  I see you!"

"Hang on, I'm just scratching an itch..."

"Ah. That's better."

"Yes, I can see you with your telephoto lens out!"

"Get it while its good, as I'm off."

"Oh, go on, then.  One last snap."

~o~

And now, as we haven't been for quite some time, back to the beach.  These are from my government mandated daily exercise on 26th April - a walk along the beach (with paddling!) from Overstrand to Sidestrand and back.  The photos were taken beyond the End-of-the-Line on Sidestrand Beach.  As you can see, it was quite difficult to adhere to the two metre social distancing rule...

One day, far, far in the future, these clay formations might end up as slate:

  1. Lots of potential Game Pie ingredients there, dear! All we've got are birds, squirrels, cats and bloody foxes... Jx

    1. I felt I might be missing something, so I clicked on the clip. Oh dearie me. If I wanted to watch dreadful people eating, I'd go and visit Garfunkel's, methinks... Jx

    2. As I pasted in the link, I knew this would not be your cup of tea, Jon. Or your slice of squirrel either...

Mmmm... You look nice, Jacki- I mean, Ms Scarlet. Now, where are those horrible boys?

  2. I wish you wouldn't use words like "bronze cock" it's been over a month!

    1. Oh, Mitzi, how thoughtless of me. Fortunately, I cannot think of any further descriptive double entendres to apply instead (and not for want of trying, hence the long delay between answering Jon's comment and yours).

  3. Wow, that sparrowhawk shot is good! If only I had my camera ready for the wildlife i've seen. I saw a rat yesterday, and a hare. The hare and I both froze for 10 minutes before we got bored with one another.
I might have to report you for the paddling.

    1. The sparrowhawk shot was sheer luck, Ms Scarlet. I noticed it sitting on that branch then went to get Camera. I just about had enough wits about me to turn it on, point and click as I came back in the room.
What did the rat do? Shrug and carry on with whatever it was doing?

The paddling was part of my constitution, I'll have you know. It wasn't a relaxed amble about in the waves, it was a fast stride along the shore. And it was far too cold to have any type of fun in (although, I did see a parent and child with their cossies on almost swimming!)

    1. Well, I bask in yours (your usual suspects, the foxes, your baked goods!), so I shall allow it.

  5. How lucky for you to live right on top of the local cruising ground! I understand why you haven't published the pictures of the local married men and the parish priest who frequent it. It's blackmail isn't it? I mean under furlough and the stock market down one has to live on something apart from venison!

    1. They've got nothing on me. Nothing!

Now, in a completely unrelated matter, I just have to go and burn some incrimina- uh, I mean, random photographs and paperwork...

  6. Did someone mention BAKED GOODS?
