The Early Bird Catches the Sun...

...because who wants to catch worms? Besides, it's raining now...

The Parents' are away for the weekend, so I've been house-sitting their new abode. It's only a two minute walk from the beach, so I popped out reasonably early this morning with Camera. This is a selection of what I came back with:

If I'd got up a little earlier, I would have seen the sun rise over the North Sea
(in the distance are Sidestrand and Trimingham)

North. Ish. Probably North North East?

Around the cliff there on the left is Cromer.
Although there's still a lot of Overstrand before one gets to Cromer

The Forties Sentinel hanging about offshore

I also have some from yesterday afternoon but I haven't sorted them out yet, so I shall inflict them upon you another time.

  1. Marine Traffic is a wonderfully nautical geeky site! I sometimes look to see where my river cruise boats are. Currently they are at their Winter moorings, awaiting the upcoming touring season.

    1. I think I've said this before, but it really is quite addictive!

  2. What magnificent sights! I quite like the cloud formations and the shimmering reflections of the light and shadows on the sea and sands. Very nice captures.

And not a single pesky bird in sight. Have they flown south for the winter or did they take the day off?

    1. I'm quite fond of the "mackerel-skin" effect clouds - ripples in the sky to mirror the ripples in the sea.
As for the birds, Tippi Hedren passed through a couple of days ago, so they all followed her. There are one or two big seagulls left here, though.

    1. I think you may be right, Dinahmow. The chill always tends to shrinking opportunities...

    1. If I'd've been up and about an hour later I would have missed it. Blue skies never last...

  6. What with all this beach activity, do you suffer from sand in your crevices?

    1. I do! It's about the only time that I miss Beast's crevice tool.

    1. A worm? I didn't think you'd settle for anything less than a sea cucumber?

  8. Damn, everyone's made all the camp innuendos I was thinking of. Tell a lie, nobody's commented on the vessel of seamen.
I hope the house played nicely and went to sleep early while you were sitting it...

    1. And there's such a lot of seamen around here, too!

The house was very well behaved, thank you for asking. So good, in fact, that I was able to watch all six 'Victoria Wood Presents' playlets in peace and quiet.

  9. So much sand and not a camel toe in sight.... yes, I had to scrape the groyne for my innuendo...
