Not considering byzantine intercalation

Aside from being somewhat cold and windy, it's been a good start to the year* here weatherwise. I hope all of you have enjoyed a good start to 2026 in some shape or form.

 * Starting the year just prior to the depths of winter seems pretty daft to me.  I must look into adopting a calendar which begins in March (but not the early Julian calendar with it's byzantine intercalation).

  1. Seriously, screw intercalation. I hate that stuff. Your New Year looks glorious!

  2. We had that pink sky at sunset too - such a camp way to start a year! Jx

  3. A nice way to start the new year I'd say. I was out in the garden yesterday getting some fresh air, enjoying the crisp air (hang over) and filling the bird feeders. A nice treat was seeing a Robin already. In January and cold?

    Happy New Year handsome!

    1. I've just learned you're the winner of TFGES competition. Yay! Best news I've heard all year.

  5. We heard fireworks on the 31/01 and had terrifyingly loud thunderstorm one evening, And the rain stopped just long enough to mow some of the lawn...then the battery died!
Here's to health, happiness and maybe a lotto win!*

  7. What better way to start the new year than with a photo of your 'Groinage'.
    I love your seascapes.
As pretty as the winter sky can be, I still scream, Roll on Spring.

  8. Interesting word, intercalation - so it's a byzantine in-shoving ? Is there a difference to a Roman ramming ?
    Are you under snow ?

    1. Ah, yes, it's amazing how quickly time can pass.

Thank you, Jon, yes, all's well here. Hibernation-mode had set in (along with some ill-timed visits and events) and somethings had to give - one of which was blogging.
I seem to have a free weekend, so I plan to catch up and maybe even post something!
