... dance to?
Deee-Lite : "Groove Is In The Heart"
I'd finished my swim, had a shower, and was partially dressed in the changing cubicle this morning when the first song accompanying the ladies-of-a-certain-age doing aquarobics came on: "Groove Is In The Heart"
I was a bit glum because I'd had to finish my swim earlier than anticipated to make way for the aquarobics class (which had been brought forward from Friday because the pool is being closed for two weeks for maintenance), and My Lifeguard wasn't there which means I won't see him for at least two weeks (because of that dratted but probably essential maintenance). However, Deee-Lite soon cheered me up and before I knew it, I was Lady Miss Kier in the cubicle!
What song did you last dance to?
"You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by Sylvester. Unfortunately, I bumped into the wardrobe and had to call it quits before the finale.
ReplyDeleteWardrobe assault aside, you win, Very Mistress! Great song and a proper dance!
Delete(The cubicle was too small to allow me the full reach of my Lady Miss Kier kicks and arm flailing, so my dance was a tad restrained.)
Depends whether you mean "dance" as in proper dancing, or "dance" as in "moved in a rhythmical fashion to"...
ReplyDeleteAt my age, the former has definitely given way to the latter - but I was on my feet, giving it a bit of a shimmy at the Celia Cruz centenary concert back in October!

Well, I'd prefer a full-on dance, but I'll take a shimmy or two!
DeleteBlimey! I'm the original two-left-feet dancer...but I can still rock. No more shoulder throws though.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we can find you someone with two right feet to partner up with.
DeleteI am often seen having the occasional wiggle along to something on the radio - which would have been yesterday. I always make time for Erasure or the Pet Shop Boys, but yesterday it was something else. Ride on Time springs to mind, but I don't think it was!

Perhaps it was "Love Sensation" by Loleatta Holloway? The original track that Black Box sampled for "RIde on Time"? I listened to it in Car on the way home from work on Wednesday, but couldn't dance (there might have been a wiggle, though).
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWell, Miss Dee-Lite can certainly add some sparkle to a day more than the thought of an aquarobics class can do, especially as one us cannot swim. However, to really get into the mood for dancing, we feel that we are badly let down by our respective wardrobes. Not a sequin, nor lurex nor glitter in sight....thankfully, no polyester either.
Enjoy your weekend!!
No... No sequins?!

Not one....:(
DeleteDo you know I can't actually remember.
ReplyDeleteI shall plump for a Cha Cha Cha danced to an Edmundo Ross LP at the Jo Purvis Tea Dance held at the white Swan Limehouse East London.
Oh, so recently then?
DeleteDavid Rose and his orchestra - The Stripper
ReplyDeleteWas this in private, or did you have an (enrapt) audience?
DeleteI did a whole Attitude walk through through the apartment to Thank you Falettin Me Be Mice Elf yesterday. Fortunately the curtains were closed. It was quite the promenade. I may have pretended to sing into a microphone (spoon.)
ReplyDeleteI'm imagining it now - Amazing!
DeleteHi. I just wanted to let you and your readers know that I have posted my Freakin' Green Elf Shorts Caption Competition at Raise the Thunder beam! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteRimpy!! Oh my gods! The Freakin' Green Elf Shorts Caption Competition is now on?! AND you've written a book! I shall be there properly forthwith.
DeleteRimpy - Do you know that you have comment moderation switched on on your blog posts?

... interesting cubicle.
ReplyDeleteDon't know whether this counts : Botty-wiggling, waving arms, and yelling a bit in the driver's seat to a tune by Danko Jones while motoring down a Bundesstraße.
The last time I really danced, doing the steps with a partner, last Silvester, so at the start of this year. A Viennese waltz.
