It's Arrived!

Yes, 2023 has arrived safely upon the shores of Great Britain, only slightly worse for wear after all those libations first in Australia (Dinah!) and then, most recently, The Netherlands.

As per, there's too much cloud cover to actually see the sun...

... but it still manages to look pretty.

It's not too early for a gin, is it?

~o~

Melanie delivered on her threat/promise to invade my Sideboard before the end of 2022!
Fortunately, it is in keeping with the occasion.

Happy New Year to you all!

  1. Gosh. You were up early! Couldn't have been a major boozy party at Hexenhäusli Device, then? I was still up at 4am, and didn't surface today till 1.30pm...

Well done, Melanie, for the "sideboard invasion" - start 2023 as we mean to go on, I say. Happy New Year, Mr DeVice! Jx

    1. No, no party at Hexenhäusli Device on NYE. I had a couple of gins, lolled around in the bath for an hour or two, then was in bed by 10. I was woken at midnight by fireworks going off, though.

  2. Sweet Mary Sunshine! You saw the sun come up??? I opened my eyes around 9AM or so! It's grey and overcast here right now, so it's probably going to rain more today. In California, rain is a blessing and hopefully the new year will bring us more and end this drought. Happy New Year, sweetpea! xoxo

    1. Well, the sun doesn't come here until about 8:15 at this time of year, so I didn't have to get up early, fortunately!
Long may your rain continue, Savvy (although, at night, hopefully, so as not to ruin your day)!

    1. Thank you, Ms Scarlet!
And I can't complain about the Sideboard Invasion - Mels did warn me. Although that was so long ago that I had forgotten...

  4. Happy New Year to you, too. And all you other late-comers.
Our beach is also lovely, but I've yet to see the sunrise there...but I'll post a picture on MIT so you can see where I now live. (Strangely enough, this is the northern end of the beach which, apparently, the local Council has designated a "clothing optional" area.I daren't mention that to Muriel!
    Cheers!

    1. Ooh, I've just seen your blog banner - with the overcast sky and wind, it could have been taken here if it wasn't for those pesky palm trees!

I hear that the tailor who outfitted the Emperor does a nice line in bathing attire...

    2. Nope! I've had to have one or two "overcooked" slices removed from my epidermis so I avoid exposing large areas these days.

  5. Sometimes I do learn to invade rather tastefully, but one should never hold their breathe for such a feat.

I never get tired of seeing your beautiful seaside pictures! Lovely! A nice post to start the new year's off!

    1. I feel fortunate for your restraint, Melanie!
And, thank you - there'll be more to come at some point (soon, if the extraneous interferers of life keep their distance for a while).

  6. It's not too early for a gin, if you've managed to beat Mistress Maddie to the liquor cabinet.

    1. I fought them all off! We were drinking a cocktail Madame Arcati came up with - bramble gin, Cava and Angostura bitters (he coined it "The Arcati Royale") - at lunchtime yesterday... Jx

    2. The Arcati Royale? Brilliant. I'll drink to that.

    4. Ooh, The Arcati Royale! I'd better update my shopping list.

      Cin cin!

  7. Lovely photos... I've missed seeing them. You really need a coffee table book or should put together a tourist brochure with them. You capture such beauty. Happy 2023!

    1. I am endeavouring to take a few more photos this year, as I was rather lax in 2022. And I'll be sure to sign your copy of my lavish coffee table book which is certain to happen, I'm sure.
