Where The Moon Hides Her Tears

I seem to remember threatening you all with the view from Chateau DeVice's smallest room not too long ago?  Well, here for your delectation (or horror) is the view from the 5th August:
I can't believe it was that long ago? Where has the month gone?

That's not a mountain range swathed in clouds in the background - just clouds!
Although, there is a very small hill behind and to the right of the tree on the right...

So. Where does the Moon hide her tears, you may be asking?  Well, inspired by the immortal words of Erasure from their 1994 album I Say, I Say I Say: "On until sunrise, where the Moon hides her tears" (from the song "All Through The Years"), here:

All these sunrise photos were taken on 21st August - I managed to drag myself out of bed half an hour earlier than usual to nip to the cliff top and snap the sun peeking over the horizon at 05:45 or thereabouts...

And, finally, here are Erasure with "All Through The Years":

(If sun rises aren't your thing, you can see a sunset here: Stay Indoors, Icarus!)

  1. We call it a harvest moon here! Stunning, creepy and magnificent

    1. I call it a bloody nuisance! Whenever I take it upon myself to slip unseen through the night, the bloody moon comes out and scuppers my stealth with her illumination. Bah!

    1. Despite being a bloody nuisance, she does scrub up rather well, doesn't she?

  3. Excellent camera work! What lens did you use for the zoomy shots?

All those moments will be lost in time ... like tears in rain. Sorry.

    1. What lens? How in hells should I know? I'm not David Bloody Bailey!

      ...

      Hang on a mo...

It's a Leica DC Vario-Elmar 1:3.3-6.4/4.3-129 ASPH. Whatever that is...?

  4. Splendiferous shots! But my favourite is the one with the "mountains swathed in clouds." If you make a calendar with that I'll buy!

    1. A calendar, eh? That give me an idea*...

      * That I'll never follow up on.

  5. Very nice indeed: I was thinking of calendars as well.
Do you sing the song to yourself as you're flying off on Broom? It would seem apt. I was wondering why I had no recollection of this song but looked it up and realised it was released the year I was otherwise detained.

    1. No. No singing on Broom. It doesn't make enough noise to drown me out, unfortunately!

I'm assuming your detainment was of the monastic variety rather than at Her Majesty's pleasure?

    1. Thank you. I'll put you down for a copy of the calendar as well, then?

  7. I don't fancy hauling arse at that hour of the morning... but the photographic imagery is well worth the effort from the look of things. Well done you. Sunrises and big moons are two of my favourite things, along with girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes... la la la la la la la la la .....

    1. I wonder if The Very Mistress would accept this photo for the Infomaniac Arse Gallery?

    2. Well, it HAS been a long time since we've had an exhibition.
