GPE 2026 : Terrifying Triffidery

Welcome one and all to the 7th annual
Terrifying Triffidery
sideshow of the
I N F O M A N I A C
Garden Photos Event

Barely contained behind their rickety enclosures are 13 of the most vile and venomous triffids known to science.  Unfortunately, a "blustery blust" blew all their labels away, so it is up to you to try and identify them and also guess which blogger sent in what triffid.  Please leave your guesses in the comments.

A word of warning: my woodsman has had to get his chopper out to deal with some of these specimens, so try not to startle him!

TT #1 : One of Them!?

TT #2 : Creepy claws

TT #3 : Whatever it is, it looks truly repulsive!

TT #4 : "Blob eye"

TT #5 : Crisp-fried angel with noodles, anyone?

TT #6 : The Cerberus of Triffids - Prepare to be swallowed alive!

TT #7 :Somewhere out there a multi-mouthed monster wants its lower lips back.

TT #8 : red rum

TT #9 : Snake!

TT #10 : I'm not convinced this happy trail leads to anything worth salivating over...

TT #11 : Ew!  Gross!  Let me get some tissues for that...

TT #12 : Ewwwwwwww!!!  These ones have already been used!

TT #13 : "Up Yours!"

Well done to those of you who made it to the end.  If you're missing any extremities or limbs, try not to lose your head about it - unless one of the triffids removed it for you first.  After all, you should know by now that this wasn't going to be like a gentle wander through one of the Royal Horticultural Society's open gardens.
I think Sarah Blackwood of Dubstar said it best with "Did you think there'd be flowers where you walked?":

(from "You Were Never In Love")

Pop back in a couple of days time for the official commencement ceremony of The Infomaniac Garden Photos Event - and to find out if you managed to identify any of these triffids or their handlers.  Remember to leave your educated guesses in the comments.  See you soon!

 P. S. For anyone reading who would like to take part in this year's GPE, there's still time.  Just email your photos to me (email address in my profile at the top of the Sideboard on the right) by Friday 6th November, please.

  1. OOH! Spooky...

I think TT #6 might be Ms Scarlet's, TT #10 may be Mistress Maddie's and the "used tissues" at TT #12 might be Dinah's, but I'm at a bit of a loss otherwise...

    1. 'Tis the season!

As for your educated guesses, one out of three isn't bad so far.

    1. The top one is quite pretty, isn't it. And like Jon, you managed to guess one correctly!

  3. YAY!
I’m going to have to study these more thoroughly. Until I work up the courage to do so I’m going to say that #6 must be the effervescent Miss Scarlett

    1. Ooooh! Hej Mago!

Old? I’ll quote Abba loosely. Slightly worn but dignified and not too old for sex.

    2. Not very far off at all, dear Mago - you managed to get three right!
Perhaps best not to take shelter in that house during the storm...

  5. Jeepers! It's a tough one this year! But I'm pretty sure , absolutely certain, the beautiful opening pic of the House of Infomaniac came as what builders-in-a-hurry call a kitset.
Now I'm going to put my thinking cap on...

    1. Yes, and those builders didn't believe in sealant (or a lot of walls!) so there's a bit of a draught at times...

  6. Still finding this difficult, but I think I've got a few of #6 so it might be one them?

    1. Well, despite not sending in a specific Triffid, one of your photos did yield one, but it's not #6. However, you still have time for some more guesses!

  7. I shouldn't be looking at these on Hallowe'en night of all nights!

    1. I hope you're either behind the sofa or under the covers, Very Mistress?

  8. Wow! What a truly disgusting display this year!

TT3 looks like something popped! They need a doctor!
TT 4 MIGHT be from the back passage of Jon and the Madame
TT 6 I think is definitely yours Mr DeVice.
TT 11 that is so creepy. Could be Pete or Mitzi?
TT12 not sure who's that is. But it makes me want to visit a glory hole.

And talk to your gardener!!! He cornered me in the back garden; he was all over me... I thought he was taking inventory!!! Don't worry though, I handled him.

    1. Ew! Yes, that's exactly what #3 looks like! And one of your guesses is correct, Maddie - I see you have already claimed a prize. I'll see if I can find you and my woodsman some fresh tissues...
