I toddled off to Cromer for an evening out with a few friends last night. It's not really post-worthy as nothing much happened, but I did get a few nice sunset snaps from the pier where we had our first couple of drinks.
Once the sun had set and we'd finished our drinks, we moved on to the Kings Head for another drink or two.
I only stayed for one more then made my way along the cliff path towards home.
Here's the pier all lit up behind me.
The moon had risen by this point.
The blurriness isn't down to alcohol consumption (I only had three!) - either my phone's crap at taking night time photos or I'm unaware of a night time setting.
(I didn't walk all the way home along the cliff - Once I got to the lighthouse I wandered down to the road and walked along the path instead. Witchface wanted to take the Nightship, but I was wearing my good clothes, so that was an emphatic "No!")
As I approached home, I could hear this playing from some event at Overstrand Hall:
"Born Slippy" by Underworld
A somewhat incongruous piece of music - even though I love it - for an otherwise idyllic seaside set of photos. Glad you had a good night out - ours was a bit more (ahem) boisterous and boozy! Jx
ReplyDeleteAnd I've seen the videos that prove it!
Delete'Born Slippy' reminds me of the come down at the end of a long night in a club - or a hot night on the beach...
Oh what a beautiful place to live. A fascinating song. I just read about it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I read about it while putting this post together too. I never knew it was about the perspective of an alcoholic's night out.
DeleteHave to wonder what the "event" at the hall was?!!!
ReplyDeleteBut, fuzzy or not, I love your seaside pics.
The hall seems to be some sort of facility for visiting youths. Fortunately it's at the other side of the village from where I live.
Delete"... the first couple of drinks..." and how many exactly were there?
ReplyDeleteWe also need to know if they were stiff drinks or drinks with teensy umbrellas.
DeleteWell, there were at least 14 on the pier, then another 12 or 13 in the pub. I think. But I only had 3 of them - all sadly bereft of teensy umbrellas.
DeleteOh, I love that piece of music! What have you been up to?!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best, m'dear.
Sx
What haven't I been up to, you mean!
DeleteNo. It's MUCH easier to answer your original question: Aside from this very rare evening out and a trip to the Old Vicarage Gardens (see next post), it's all same old, same old (work, parental care, Bitey walks, and watering the garden - with watering cans, not a hosepipe, of course.)
Great sound and gorgeous photos, sweetpea! I'm going to look Underworld up! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Savvy.
DeleteDamn, I am WAY BEHIND musically! They've been around for a while! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, pish posh. 1987 was only a couple of years ago, surely? And Born Slippy was released in 1996 - practically yesterday!
DeleteI really hope it was a nice evening stroll, a bit of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I may have missed something (after all these years !) - but what is NightShip ? And you kept your clothes on. The good ones.
Ah, yes, the Nightship. It's not my preferred method of transportation, but it'll do when there are no other options available (except hanging beneath a brolly which is really undignified).
DeleteAnd, yes, of course I kept my clothes on! This time, anyway...
