Of sunshine and hideous, snap-jawed sea creatures

We've actually had rather a nice weekend, weatherwise: sunshine, balmy temperatures when the wind wasn't blowing, and when it was, it was coming form the south which meant that at least it wasn't frigid as per.
As well as spending time up the allotment and in the garden, I also took Bitey down to the beach for his now traditional Sunday morning walk (we meet up with one of my friends who has a black lab who Bitey is always very excited to see, and vice versa).

Anyway, here are some photos from that very walk:

Some hideous, snap-jawed sea creature emerging from the waves...

It is not so nice now.  The rain finally caught up with us.  How have you all fared this weekend?

  1. How have a I survived this weekend? Mostly well lubricated and libationed. At least last night.

The seaside picture are glorious, but what is the snap jawed seas creature? Some kind of seas bird???

    2. Yes, Mistress Maddie, Ms Scarlet is correct (of course), the hideous, snap-jawed sea creature is indeed Bitey!
I need plenty of libations to deal with him, sometimes.

    1. The coast around here can usually be relied on for putting on a good show, fortunately for the content of this blog!

  3. The weather caught up with Devon first, it was grim from 9.30am and lashed down from midday onwards. I love the 4th picture of the very sparse beach!
Barney also has a friend - a Spaniel, and they thankfully wear each other out.

    1. I love it when Bitey meets up with one of his more exuberant friends in the mornings - it means my afternoons are usually uninterrupted.

  4. Lovely! I miss the sea.

As for the weather, it was a "mixed bag" in Dorking - sunny and quite warm (by day, the nights were a bit nippy), but by yesterday evening we had a bit of a downpour. We sat in a pub, then caught a taxi to the station, so that all worked out OK... This morning in London, it's clear as a bell. Jx

    1. As long as the rain is on the move (as it has been for the past week) and passes over quickly, I don't mind. But that lingering wetness we had over winter was just too much.
Glad to hear you managed to stay out of it in Dorking.

  5. Behold, the sea itself And on its limitless, heaving breast, Bitey the snap jawed sea creature
Your photos go so well with Vaughan Williams: A Sea Symphony

    2. I'm sure Mr Williams must have had a vision of Bitey before he composed 'A Sea Symphony'.

  6. Liveable.co.uk has been a great help in finding us nice areas to visit and to look for a properties in those areas. Cromer has a respectable B rating, Overstrand B+ and its surrounding areas are also Bs. Saturday the maid and I looked at a property just outside of Bridlington (B) in one of the bedrooms there was a dust sheet covering a large object, I looked underneath it and saw it was a sex sling! Oh how we cackled.

    1. Overstrand is only B+?? I shall have to write to the council!

Ha ha ha! I wonder what else the Bridlington house had hidden away?
