I'm on holiday this week. I made some plans - something to do every day so as not to waste the time - and thought I'd have plenty of time for catching up with your blogs and updating my own. The universe had other plans, however...
It is not raining. Rather than put my shoes and socks back on to go back outside, I thought I'd use this opportunity to do some blogging. So, here are some of the photos from Tuesday's foray down to the beach:
Approaching the End-of-the-Line
Here at the End-of-the-Line we've left Overstrand and entered Sidestrand. In the distance is Trimingham.
The exposed chalk beds are looking rather drab, covered in algae, seaweed, sand and clay as they are.
I'd taken my shoes off to paddle along the coast and put them down to take this photo...
... Bertie Biteface seized this opportunity and ran off with one of them! So pleased with himself and gloating about his cunning, he failed to notice two people sneaking past behind him whose faces he could have bitten off as punishment for being on the beach at the same time as us. Useless!
Eventually I managed to get my shoe back then we turned around and headed home.

And here are a few from yesterday's not-swim:
There are (at least) four cormorants in this photo - can you spot them?
(There is also one in the first photo of this post)
This is where I stopped to have a swim. I waded in up to my hips, but the water was freezing and had too many greasy, dirty feathers floating in it for my liking, so I quickly waded out again.
(The feathers remind me of other things that cormorants and gulls do in the sea...)
View from the top of the Secret Steps on the way home.
I spotted this large grey seal from the cliff top just as I was about to head inland.
