Four Photos: Elephant!

Last month, we found this in the red greenhouse
 
It's an elephant hawkmoth
 
And last week The Mother discovered this on the lawn.  Well Bitey discovered it and The Mother went over to see what he was staring at. An elephant hawkmoth caterpillar (she thought it was a poo!)
 
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrgh!*  It's going to devour us all!!!!
 
 
*It may or may not be a pirate.

    The Madam saw the "Flying Elephant"'s even bigger sister the other evening - the Privet Hawk Moth! It's been a very good year for these furry monsters... Jx

  2. I knew that was an elephant hawkmoth...I too just discovered them. And are you sure that isn't Mothra in larvae stage?????? As you well aware she was just at my door a few weeks back. Thanks heavens she can be nice and kind too.
