Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea

Well, this is our first day of residence in our new abode - converted hippocampus stables at the top of the cliff (but not precariously so, we hope) in Overstrand.
After waking up amidst the clutter of yesterday's moving day mess, and imbibing a strong coffee to fully join the land of the living, we decided to make the most of our new location (and the brilliant sunshine), and take a walk on the beach. Sorting out the boxes and bags and the like can wait until later.
 Or tomorrow.
 Or next week!

Having alighted gracefully on to the beach from the cliff top (and not fallen down it at all. Not even a little bit), this is the view west towards Overstrand's main beach

From whence we came.
That little hut is not the new Castle DeVice - we live a little further along on the right

Overstrand East beach with Sidestrand just a little further on

There was a cormorant amongst the gulls, but it was the first to fly off as we approached

Sidestrand beach

End of the line

A nice, big groyne for Dinahmow, complete with a bird on the end

Back in Overstrand, we had a sit down on some boulders and basked for a bit

Back up the cliff towards our new home

OK, so it's nothing you haven't seen before, but couldn't you just bask in that sunshine?

  1. What a nice respite from the moving chores. Does the new Castle DeVice have an ocean view?

    1. It does, but only in the winter when there are no leaves on the surrounding trees. And even then, only from the smallest room!

  2. Yes, I can almost feel the sun hitting my bare fanny.

Is it me or does the sand here look more smooth and not as rough as the beach see usually see pictures of? And just how far are you now to the beach? If you say you can roll out of bed and be there, I'll slap you, with love of course.

    1. Oh, you and your Not-Front Bottom. I may have to call you Miss Funny Fanny from now on!

As for the smoothness of the sand: it's not you, it really is very sandy at the moment. Although a good storm can soon change that!

Oh, and pretty much, YES! If it wasn't for the trees and surrounding hedge, I could roll out of bed, down the stairs, across the garden to the cliff top for a rough-and-tumble roll down to the beach. However, I prefer the minute walk along the High Street to the Promenade (where it joins Clifton Way/Coast Road). A slap from you is surely better than all the pricks I'd get by rolling down the cliff ;)

    2. Well , the way I see it, a few pricks is better than no pokes at all.

      I now envy you........

  3. Perched upon high and overlooking a load of shags and groynes? Sounds ideal! Jx

  4. And a beautifully centred groyne picture it is, to be sure!Thank you.
But...why have you moved from your lovely garden? You didn't really hate Beaky *that* much, surely?

    1. You're welcome. And the slight kink only makes it more interesting!

Oh, the garden is still accessible as Inexcuseable and her Husband live there now, and I'm sure I'll be called upon to maintain it. Much to Beaky's annoyance no doubt!

    2. Plenty of scope for "Little Lawn Mowers" then. ;-)

  5. Congratulations on your move! Are any stable boys left over? Or merely unstable ones?
And I hope your survey went into whether that cliff is thinking of collapsing - I would hate to think of you rolling out of bed and finding your fanny wet.

    1. Sadly, no boys lingering at the residence, stable or otherwise, but I did come across (not literally) a very fine specimen jogging on the beach. He was good looking, lithe and tanned with a torso that appeared to be all abs, although a little on the petite side for my tastes. Cute, rather than manly, I think is the best description.

  6. The shot looking up the cliff to the box structure at the top right had me thinking you'd gotten yourself a gypsy caravan... only for a moment though...
Lovely groynes and sunshine... With such a secluded sandy beach on you literal doorstep I'm just wondering if your own personal groin has been exposed to all that fabulous sunshine...

    1. The exposure was entirely accidental - the towel blew to one side as I was drying off after my swim. Luckily no one was about to witness it!

Tickle my fancy, why don't you?
