The Garden Murderer has struck again. This time on the beach!
The morning started with a walk along the beach to Cromer with a couple of friends and their dogs, a black lab and a dobermann. While the two other dogs were chasing a ball, Bitey veered off into the breaking waves where he somehow managed to bring down a MASSIVE sea gull that was taking off!
He immediately ran off with it leading us on a merry chase. It took the three of us to corner him so I could grab him and wrest the dying bird from his jaws of death. Although there was no blood, the scene was harrowing.
The murderer is currently stretched out on my bed probably dreaming of his prowess.
The little git.
OMG!!!! Could this be the beginning of a new Ryan Murphy Horror Stories series???? Did the bird die I assume? Meanwhile Sophie is awaiting judgement in the tower.
ReplyDeleteWe just need Ms Scarlet's Barney to finish off the trilogy. Although I suspect he's a Good Boy and doesn't engage in the casual murder of others.
DeleteIf the gull didn't die shortly afterwards, I'd be very surprised. (We left it hidden away in a tuft of dune grass near the cliffs.)
He's so cute though! As if butter wouldn't melt. He's very similar to my friend's dog, and he would behave in much the same way.
ReplyDeleteFunny that the larger dogs weren't much bothered by the seagulls!
Sx
Cute?!?! Are you quite mad, Ms Scarlet? He's a monster! Just look at the whites of his eyes, the curl of his mustachioed lip, and the glint of his teeth!
DeleteThe big dogs ran over to Bitey to see what he'd got, but after a couple of sniffs, they left him to it.
In Plymouth, they call them "shit-hawks". They can be really quite intimidating - but evidently not to Bitey! Jx
ReplyDeleteOnce in Rehoboth Beach I was sitting on the boardwalk eating vinegar fries with salt, and one of those bold birds swooped down and grabbed the two fries right from my fingers and did a fine job with the wind from its wings on my coiffure.
DeleteWell, I suppose Bitey has saved at least one ignorant tourist's fish & chips from being carried off. He is a Good Boy after all!
DeleteI'm wary of little, yappy dogs that like to pick fights.
ReplyDeleteThen you'll love Bitey! He never yaps and seems to get on with every dog he meets. Although, when he meets a cat...
DeleteWe once had a dog that would pick songbirds out of flight. Nothing so large as a seagull, though! How big is Bitey?
ReplyDeleteBitey is the size of a very big seagull - i.e. knee height.
DeleteHe used to ignore the birds in the garden, but now he chases them off if there are too many at once. He will tolerate the odd robin or blackbird - probably only because I told him blackbirds will peck his eyes out!
