The Last Sand Castle

I finally, finally, got up when I woke up (at about 5:45) rather than lolling about waiting for my alarm to go off (6:14), and got out of the house for a walk before starting work (at 7:00).  This meant that I was in time to see the last remaining sand castle from yesterday's industrious half-term day-trippers.  It had been built right up by the sea wall so, because of the low high tide, was spared being totally demolished by the waves.

I thought I'd take a photo of this cobblestone cottage as I walked up The Londs towards home.  The corner window fascinates me, and I love the somewhat overgrown surroundings.

This sudden change in weather from rain and cold to blazing sunshine couldn't come quickly enough when it allows sights like this:

You should have seen him from the front!

I am in LOVE with your town. It's where I want to be. And you know how much I enjoy those beach whack shacks. Um. I mean, beach shacks...yes beach shacks They are always so happy and cheery.

I had no thoughts of leading the runner boy by the hand and into one for an afternoon of enchantment.. nope not me.

    1. Well, I did think of you as I took the beach hut photo. And I expect that after you've given the runner boy* a good seeing to in one of them, it might look like it'd been hit by a high-tide storm surge!

      * He was all pecs and abs as he ran up the road towards me. Quite compact - a little lacking in height for me, but I wouldn't say no.

    2. Hey...there is nothing wrong with us pocket gays!!! Besides, beside you, everyone would be a midget. From what I've seen, your all legs.

      All three of them.

    3. That's true - "pocket gays" often have very pleasing proportions. It's just that when I'm with one - or, should I say, when I was with one (because I can't imagine getting close to anyone now) - I seem to be all arms and legs, gangly and awkward.

  2. Those corner windows fascinate me, too, but they are often more exciting from the outside, and sometimes they suffer from rot leading me to wonder if the thing is going to fall off whilst I’m peering through the glass.
Apologies, let us instead admire the runner boy, and the enormous, distracting addendum that you have on your sideboard. At least you’re not going to run out of loo roll any time soon.

    1. I expect the room that window opens to is rather cold and drafty - especially as it faces north-east and the wind off the sea whooshes straight up The Londs at it!

I think Maddie's used all the loo roll while "clearing up"...

  3. To me 5:45am is "rolling in off a night bus", not "getting up to photograph a little bit of sand"... But I digress. I love that little rustic ginnel up from the beach - and of course, the jogger! Jx

    1. Village life may not be for you, Jon - the "night" bus here gets in at 6:25pm from Cromer...

  4. I simply adore when the boys all get weather happy and start removing the layers. Next to nothing suits me best! As for that sand castle... don't we all have days when we feel exactly like it? So brave. Resilient. Weathering the onslaught, as it were. And then you show me that lovely cobble stone... how do you get to live in such a quaint and beatific life? You should see what greets me each day. Well... to be honest, not as bad as some, but certainly not postcard perfect like yours, dear. Have a lovely. And thanks for sharing the best of you. Kizzes.

    1. The trouble with living in a "postcard perfect" place is that it gets inundated with tourists and day-trippers during holiday season, hence the very early morning wanderings while they're all still in bed.
Although, some of them look as good (if not better) than this jogger, so it's not all bad.

    2. When does holiday season end so we can all hop on the night bus for a visit?

    3. Mid-September, supposedly, but there are always some irritating hangers-on until October.
Can you try and get an earlier flight? I can't stay up that late for the night bus!

  5. Oh. Melanie Thank you . I'm so glad I'm not the only one to have "done things" to our friend's side board!
Your tasty-looking chap must have a string of admirers. On both sides of the street.

    1. Ha ha! Melanie's catching you up, Dinah - This is her second sideboard invasion compared to your three (so far...)

Tasty-looking chaps are always better with a bit of sauce!

  6. I love the third picture. You've missed your vocation.
Although the cameraman in porn has to get in such strange positions.
Lacking in height, indeed. It wasn't his height you were interested in 😂

    1. I must admit, I quite like the third photos too. Although, that little piece of seaweed at the bottom right looks like a snail.

I suppose you're right about the height thing. After all, we'd be horizontal so it wouldn't matter...

  8. Le sigh. I adjusted the image size but it refuses to be anything but big and bold here. I have removed the "featured image" entirely now and updated to see if it will disappear. I knew I should have tried it with the mouse instead!

I like the different colored cabanas pic and the cobblestones.

I'm seduced by intellect more then just flesh.

I develop attractions to places as much as people. I once saved a whole flip church from being demolished. Why? Because it spoke to me and it was easy to rally the nearby parishioners to adopt it being that they were Unitarians I fit in quite well for awhile. There was an old green house I was enamored with but I could not save it. All that is left remains in my mind.

    1. Oh, no! The giant loo roll holder is gone!! You didn't have to do any adjusting, Melanie - I loved the drama and attention ;)

    2. All right, well I'll try to be judicious in my use of power here. I'd hate to over stay my welcome. Since I opted to run a nature blog I can't be serving up a bunch of man meat for you, but next time maybe some nice fleurs.

  9. Well I was going to comment on the village scene and beach, but lost all train of any thought.

  10. Damn, even the tourists are scenic. That cobble lane is absolutely enchanting. What a wonderful place to live!

    1. There're quite a few cobblestone buildings and walls along the coast here - probably because the raw materials can just be found laying around on the beach. Like the "scenic" tourists ;)

  11. Tick Tock, I would have liked to see the view from the front too, I love to see the pendulum swinging to and fro.
    Fab photos as per.
