Not The 2016 Infomaniac Book Challenge V

Good news, everybody! I was a runner-up in the "Guess The Mistress's Menstrual Cycle" competition during the 10th anniversary celebrations of the House of Infomaniac and - finally! - my runner-up prize has arrived, just in time for the final entry in the Not The 2016 Infomaniac Book Challenge.

ξ : The Very Mistress MJ Diaries ("A Friend" Publishing)

No sooner had the (poorly) gift-wrapped book dropped through my letterbox, than I tore it open and plumped myself down in the recliner to read it (peeling brussels sprouts be damned! - I don't like them anyway). I ploughed through The Very Mistress MJ Diaries in no time, devouring every little tidbit that the author had scraped together from ten years of grubbing around in The Mistress's trash can. These candid images offer revelations into the life of The Mistress!

As I don't have time to go through it all with you, nevermind scan the choicest pictures, I shall leave you with the excerpts from amuze-bouke.cusp (the Cusp's answer to Amazon):

If you're still in a last-minute present panic, this book could be the perfect gift (unless you need a gift for a child or stroppy teenager - they don't "get" black and white). Oh, and you can get 2.7% off (or tuppence ha'penny - whichever is cheaper depending on the exchange rate) if you tell amuze-bouke that I sent you.
Failing that, I think you might be able to get a copy from one or two Earthly shops, although they might be a bit too exclusive? Aziraphale's of Soho, Black Books, and Inexcuseable tells me she saw a copy in Edina Monsoon's shop.

We hope you all have a wonderful Yule, MidWinter, Christmas, or whatever, and (hopefully), we'll see you just before the New Year for our end-of-year review and Coven Awards.
Which I've barely started preparing - eeek!

  1. I want this book and I want it now.
Meanwhile,is it true about younglings not 'getting' black and white?? I am horrified. Slightly worried. Bemused even. I was born, like our beloved Mistress, in black and white. Black and white is most stylish.

    1. Madam Arcati and I simply refuse to go anywhere - particularly places like New York - unless they are in black and white. With gloves and hats. Jx

    2. Amuze-bouke are offering free ostrich feathers with the next ten copies they sell!

The next ten have to make do with long-tailed tit feathers.

  3. Inexplicable, have you ever read Lady Addle Remembers and the other books in that series? I think you would like them.
    Happy Winterval dear boy.

    1. I haven't, but thanks for the tip. I've just availed myself of Lady Addle via the google-a-tron, and I think you're right, I probably will like them.

Happy Winterval to you, too, Hound!

    1. It's rather a weighty book. Does the Empress have any carrier pteradactyls?

Have a lovely Christmas, both of you!

  6. I don’t know whether to be flattered or to fling my flaming uterus at you.

    Can I purchase amuse-bouches at amuze-bouke?

    1. Well, if you fling your barque Flaming Uterus at me I shall be flattened...

Amuse-bouches are gratis at the only physical Amuze-bouke shop, but I'm happy to say that they don't do those wobbly, slimy-looking parmesan pannacotta ones!

      Merry Christmas The Mistress!

    1. Please don't encourage her, Norma. I only narrowly escaped being smushed to smithereens by her barque!

      Happy Christmas!

  8. How much for an autographed copy? I feel a treasure of this magnitude needs to be showcased on the Antiques Roadshow or the museum!

Piano Pelvic Thrusts, the next more advanced exercise, when kegels just aren't enough, and you need the thigh strength to choke a bear or break polar ice.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, IDV! Cheers and Happy Holidays!

    1. Ah, there are no autographed copies as the author is very secretive. That's what comes of years of lurking and stalking. Not to mention the various restraining orders and such...

Merry Christmas to you, too, Eros!

  9. B&W photographs are very forgiving for those with mottled skin tones.

Is The Very Mistress MJ Diaries available on Kindle, a friend of mine is asking.

    1. That could explain a lot, Mitzi. Perhaps B&W wasn't chosen for skinflint reasons, after all?

Kindle? Nah. It's a great big block of wood pulp or nothing!

The MJ Diaries - there should be a review in the literary supplements (TLS, NYBR etcetc.), so that it gets the attention it deserves !
