Four Photos: Bat!

Look what I found crawling up the inside of the carport on Tuesday morning: a tiny bat!
Probably a pipistrelle of some description.  Unless it was a young 'future predator'...?

An hour or so later it had disappeared - probably having climbed high enough to launch itself into the air and fly away to somewhere more hospitable (and darker) than my carport.

  1. How sweet - I've always loved bats, despite their less-than-photogenic faces. We're always thrilled when we see our local ones flitting about at dusk, eating all those pesky mosquitoes and moths! Jx

    1. That's a very polite way of describing bats faces, Jon. Certainly better than the "hideously ugly" that I was going to go with. But, yes, it is rather thrilling to see them flitting about!

  2. When we lived in Savannah, we could watch bats leave the underside of the bridge and literally turn the evening sky dark as they flew away! Given all the gnats and mosquitoes around the city, they were a blessing, sweetpea, despite as Jon said, their "less-than-photogenic faces." xoxo

  4. Go! Bats (um...leave Robin, he's a tad weird!) But, seriously, bats do an amazing job for us.

    1. That they do. As Jon and Savvy have mentioned, I'm glad tey get rid of so many flying pests. There's nothing worse than a mouthful of some unspeakable insect when one is trying to pilot Broom!
