Aljaž's Strictly Straplines

  Continuing from last month's Strictly Aljaž post, here are Strictly: It Takes Two's remaining straplines from adorable Aljaž Skorjanec's (and his down-to-Earth celebrity dance partner, Gemma Atkinson's) appearances on the show:

(On the right, Aljaž attempts his best catalogue pose)

For the non-Brits, a Mancunian is someone from the English city of Manchester
(Gemma is from Bury in  Greater Manchester)

He did remarkably well at the accent, but couldn't keep it up (how disappointing), so resorted to posing instead

::

Oh!  The strapline people must have heard me!

"Mmmm... Yes, I'd love to kiss IDV"

"Hah ha haa! Just kidding, IDV.  My wife is watching!"

"Hah hah ha haa!  Is this laugh convincing?  Do you think Janette will fall for it?"
::

"Ooh!  A surprise!"

Don't worry Gemma, it's not going to explode

"What the...?"

Even with a great big comedy moustache, Aljaž still manages to look good enough to eat!

See Aljaž as the moustache-twirling villain in panto near you soon!
::

::

"Let's re-enact our romantic rumba!"  "Urgh!  Let's not."

"Oh, look!  We were pretty good!"

::

Still pretty without the make-up and sequins (both Aljaž and Gemma)
::

"An early Christmas present?"

No, Gemma, this isn't something else that's going to explode...

::

  Enjoy the pretty, I've got to finish off the end-of-year Coven Awards.
 Make a start, don't you mean?
  Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  1. Thank you for the pretty!! I am so looking forward to the final tonight.... I would like Debbie to win, but I really don't mind too much - they are all entertaining. Are you going to watch Feud on BBC2 after Strictly?? I am so looking forward to that as well.... I meant to write a post about it. Maybe tomorrow.

    1. Only 17 minutes to go! I'm rooting for Gemma or Joe to win.
      Oh, the Feud, yes! I keep seeing the trailer for it and thinking that I must watch it, even though I shall be thinking of French & Saunders' "Whatever Happened to Baby Dawn?"!!

  2. Not long now! Hopefully my fish finger supper will be ready in time. I warmed to Gemma, and Joe is brilliant! Alexandra makes it look too easy!
    I shall also be thinking of French and Saunders :-)

    1. I was going to have fish finger sandwiches! What a coincidence! (I actually had leftover cheese pie with broccoli and carrots because it needed eating).

      Joe won - YAY!!!! Alexandra and Debbie are both excellent, but I agree with you that Alexandra makes it look too easy, and I think Debbie can sometimes look a little awkward because of her amazing ballet-dancer legs.

      Feud was fantastic! I can't wait for the bit where Susan Sarandon can-cans down the stairs, then phones Mr Jones at the corner shop and orders a crate of Orangina and two dozen Curly-wurlies!

    2. Oh, and I meant to say, I heard a trailer for "The League of Gentlemen" (I was upstairs and heard the theme tune) - A 20th anniversary special starts on Monday!

    3. Feud is one of those rare pieces that gets better as it goes on. I thought Susan Sarandon was just genius in it.

    4. I didn't realise there were so many episodes, Peenee. I'm going to struggle to fit it all in as I've still got Stranger Things 2 to finish. (un)Luckily, Strictly has finished, so that's nearly five hours free each week.

  3. I'll just stay in this outpost of Empire and wonder what the the dickens you're on about...
    It's a shame you don't "do" Facebook - there's a nice video of some Ukrainian masculinity flashing their legs about.
    Oh, I'll put you out of your misery https://www.facebook.com/UkrainianDanceWorld/videos/1753727067994032/?fref=mentions

    1. Wow! Those are some amazing legs. Next time I want to see them performing in short-shorts!

  4. Speaking purely witch to witch, I can confidently tell you you have no need to be jealous of the wife. He's simply useless around the house, my dear.

    1. Ah, well that sorts that out, then.

      Actually, despite finding him very attractive, I'm drawn to his good nature and wit - there's no sexual attraction at all.

  5. His mouth is too big for his face!

    As you know, I never watch Strictly (nor any programme of its ilk), and it wasn't till today that I realised that one of my "totties of the day" was even in the show - but Joe McFadden is definitely much sexier... Jx

    1. "His mouth is too big for his face!" - Get out!

      ...

      Oh. You're still here. Good.
      Joe has grown on me since Strictly started. He's endearing and adorable just like Aljaž, but, yes, manages to be sexy with it. I'm really pleased that he won.

  6. Ha! Those techs and performers are entertaining and genuinely fun (and funny)! It's great to see that awesome sense of humor on tv. Thank you for explaining Mancurian...I misread it as Manchurian, and immediately imagined him speaking like in those old, poorly dubbed martial arts films, where the voices are out of sync with the action on the film, and the accent and emotions are overly dramatic but still so gripping.

    1. Strictly: It Takes Two is my favourite show. It's much funnier than anything else on TV, and Gemma and Aljaž are just the icing on the cake when they're on.
      I'm sad that it's finished for another year :(

  7. I haven't a clue, but if y'all are happy and enjoying the show, "I'm with you fellas!" (HUGE prize (not) if you know movie that bit is from) xoxox

    1. Savvy, I don't watch it either.It may be on in Aussieland, but I don't know.I'm getting a bit warmed-up with those Ukrainians though!

    2. Well, I'm not going to win a (HUGE) prize, although it seems familiar.

  8. Do I get points for being a foreigner and knowing the definition of "Mancunian" before you explained it?

    1. Well, go on then. But not the full ten points, as you watch Coronation Street (set in Greater Manchester) which, I feel, gives you an advantage.

  9. No clue whatsover, sorry. But the only time he shows his real face is on the fourth pic from below that gives his partner and him without makeup. I am glad to see that the Mr Alias from Russia has real eyes and not "little piggy eyes" like on (most of) the other pics.
    Now you may kick me.

    1. "little piggy eyes"?!?!? Don't make me commission a "Banned by Inexplicable DeVice" card for you, akin to The Very Mistress's "Banned by Infomaniac" card.

    2. The German expression is Schweinsäuglein and fits much better, but I found no real translation and could not think about one meself.
