Two sides to every story...

... and two sides to my book case.

I have vague recollections of threatening to show you my bookcase towards the end of last year. I don't know whose blog this threat was left at, but I don't think it was mine?
Anyway, as a warm-up to another year of reading-
And because we've got shit-all else to blog about!
Well. Yes. Um... Here is our bookcase. The upstairs one, not the downstairs one which is a bit higgledy-piggledy, and stuffed with gardening and recipe books.
Not to mention Inexcuseable's cat books, Elvis collection, and Twilight novels, and her husband's fishing and DIY books.

Embigulatory probing can be effected by clicking...

... and I only had to do a modicum of "weeding"

As I've shown you mine, will you show us yours?

Snippets of Mago's have already been released, and Hound's bathroom bookshelf has been seen out and about in public, but there's always room for more!

UPDATE 12.02.2017 : LẌ's industrial-strength shelves are on display here, and MrPeenee is on a promise...

UPDATE 23.02.2017 : In fact, just pop to The Very Mistress's for a handy list of all who have taken part (so far)...

  1. Embigulatory probing...I love it! Oh, and the phrase as intended here, too.
Nope, can't show you my boo case.Don't have one in this house. How sad am I!
Books are higgledy-piggledy and stored in closets. Or returned to the library, whence they came.
but in a former house? O lordy, we had floor to ceiling jobs, closet storage.Ballycumbers*...books everywhere.

    1. No... No bookcase?! Too much time embiggening a probulator and not enough time reading, methinks?

    2. Oh no, I read. I just don't have proper book cases.

    1. Ah. I'm glad to discover that it has nothing to do with cucumbers after you disclosed your probe-related goings on...

  3. I just love nosing about other people's houses and particularly bookshelves!
I love the way you've divided the bedroom into two halves, one for sleeping and the other for wanking at the computer. My only surprise is...no magic books at all? You do it completely intuitively?
    - Breaks wand in half and jumps on it, muttering all the time blah blah blah not even Silver fucking Ravenwolf blah blah blah grandmothers blah blah blah head in the clouds blah blah blah sulk -

    1. Of course it's intuitive - I'm far too lazy (and contrary) to read what someone else is telling me how to do it. I'm not entirely sure that sentence made sense...?

And I'll have you know, the underside of my desk is as clean and clear as the day I bought it!

    2. Oh I get it! You learned it all from my blog! The PC side is your serious witchy study side and the bed side is ahem...
In all seriousness, can I request a glimpse of your lit up carboy thingy and the other bookcase diwnstairs?

    3. That's right! And next I'm going to learn how I can make a Bungle toy into an effigy of someone irritating. Your blog is a wealth of witchy know-how!

And I'll see what I can do about your request...

    4. Thank you my dear, and you say the nicest things!

  4. Though your bookshelves are extremely impressive darling they're far too tidy for my liking...
I prefer a more haphazard stacking system where the removal of a book becomes more like a game of Jenga... It adds to the excitement of the challenge... and failure leads to more haphazard stacking... Win/Win!

    1. It sounds like you have a similar system to Dinahmow.

I think I can hear Dewey spinning in his grave...

  5. Oh, very nice and neat! What is that big green (glass?) bloby thing on the top shelf? Glass float?

    1. It's a Viresa demijohn (carboy?), I think. I have another full of lights on my dressing table.

I should do a major cleaning action, perhaps I'll snap shots. Shoot snaps ? Ah gargle afk now ...

  7. Mr Mags has been pissed for an awful long time now; I am beginning to worry.
Anyhow, after perusing the Lakeland catalogue I bought a feather duster so now that my books are dust free I may indeed flash my rack of books.
Speaking of splendid racks, is The Mistress okay? She has been very quiet.

    1. Perhaps I shouldn't have offered him that babycham?

This may be the only rack flashing that I'll be excited for!

Do you think The Very Mistress has had yet more guests (expected or otherwise) to stay? Or has the Year of the Cock gone to her head?

    2. Up for air and impressed by your tidy bookshelves.

Like Eros, I noticed the gin bottle. Is it on the top shelf to make it harder to reach for?

What are those red spotty things by the computer?

    3. I wouldn't bother reaching for it - it's empty!

The red spotty thing must be a clothes peg - the red blobs are cherries. At least, I think that's what you meant?

  8. What neat and organized shelves you have! And what a cool collection of books. I, too, was intrigued by the large green glass object by the gin bottle on the top of the bookcase in the first pic. I assumed it was your crystal ball...

The other green object in that foto that caught my attention was the bottle of Vaseline Aloe Fresh lotion. I have that lotion, too. It smells great and it's part of my travel kit when I go traveling or trekking outdoors. Great for sunburns!

    1. When push comes to shove, I do use the demijohn as a crystal ball. Only in emergencies, however, as its size means the images it displays are really 'deep' which gives me vertigo...

Ah, yes, the Vaseline! I didn't realise that was visible through the shelves.

  9. A while ago, I realized I have bookcases in every room of my house that doesn't have a toilet in it. I will do a post on my incredibly random collection of cases shortly.

    1. I can't wait to see your array of shelves, Peenee! And as Hound has shown us, having a toilet in close proximity shouldn't put one off having a bookshelf in the smallest room...

  10. I now have some pictures of some books at my place.
